Judo is one of the many martial arts forms and is an offshoot of a much older martial art, jujitsu. Jujitsu began in the 1530’s, and by the mid-1800’s there were over seven hundred different jujitsu systems. In 1882, Dr. Jigoro Kano, then the President of University of Education in Tokyo, Japan, combined the best and most effective techniques from the numerous forms of jujitsu to form the marital art known as judo. The roots of Bingo can be traced way back to the year 1530, when an Italian, state run lottery called "Lo Gioco del Lotto d'Italia" first began. Over a century later, the French adopted a similar game, one version of which used a playing-card grid of numbers. A caller would reach into a bag and draw out wooden tokens which were marked 1 - 90, and the first player to cover over all the numbers on their card would be marked the winner. The world has a new pastime. And it goes something like this. You have a few numbers written on cards (Bingo cards, to use the jargon) in your hand. There is another person who will rattle off numbers arbitrarily and you have to tick off the corresponding numbers in your numbered cards. You do this till you have marked numbers in a particular order and then you say "Bingo". You win. Bingo. Yes, this is the name of the game that has taken the world by storm.

Bingo originated from a lottery in Italy at the beginning of the 16th century. When Italy was unified in 1530, the country-wide lottery named Lo Gioco del Lotto d'Italia was born. Lo Gioco Del Lotto d'Italia, now called Lotterie Nazionali, is still played in Italy every Saturday and it has become an important revenue source for the Italian government.
