Illinois preservation architect Thomas Harboe prefers not to dismantle architectural monuments. But at Mies van der Rohe's Lake Shore Drive apartments, built in Chicago in 1951, one of the first steps in the preservation process was to remove the broad travertine pavement between the two towers. Taking up nearly 1,100 slabs each weighing as much as 175 pounds, many crumbling and leaking water into the garage below-was the easy part.

The Jaguar C-Type (also called the Jaguar XK120-C) was a racing sports car built by Jaguar and sold from 1951 to 1953. The "C" designation stood for 'competition'. Considering that Jaguar have recently stated that they wish to push the brand further up market, the New Jaguar C-Type will be aiming to cause a stir with the competition - Porsche Boxster, Mercedes SLK, BMW Z4, the Audi TT and the Nissan 370Z. Volkswagen is a registered trademark in the United States and many other countries in the world. Volkswagon subcontracted the conversions to Westfalia-werke – more popularly known as Westfalia. This tour was established in 1951 by the London Transport authority as a service line, actually "Service J" with the date marked as the June 11th of 1951. It was not really a sightseeing tour at first, but a circular cross-town tour going non-stop and operating the route from Buckingham Palace Road over to the South Kensington Station, then Bloomsbury Place and back.
