The 1990s collectively refers to the years between and including 1990 and 1999. During this time, the widespread adoption of personal computers, the Internet and the increased economic productivity led to the equity market booms around the world, and caused an influx of wealth to the United States, Europe and Asia. This decade started with the end of the Cold War, as well as the cementation of free-market capitalism in many countries worldwide, both developed and developing. During this decade, racial prejudice against minorities lost moral acceptance, and the gender roles for women began to increase dramatically in many industrialized countries. Throughout the decade multiple attempts to solve the conflict between Israel and Palestinian territories were initiated including a near settlement in the mid-1990s with the Oslo accords when Israel allowed the creation of the autonomous Palestinian National Authority. Most importantly the 165 years of British control over the Asian city Hong Kong ends with the transfer of jurisdiction to the People's Republic of China. Many countries, institutions, companies, and organizations experienced the 1990s as a prosperous time. High-income countries such as the United States, Western Europe, and South Korea experienced steady economic growth for much of the decade. However, in the former Soviet Union GDP decreased as their economies restructured to produce goods they needed and some capital flight occurred.

October 07, 2008
An auto locksmith is another variation of professional locksmith that specializes solely in opening up locked cars and then creating new keys for that vehicle. Unlike traditional locksmiths, an auto locksmith relies on special decoding machinery to do their work. This is because newer cars manufactured since the mid-1990s have keying systems that work differently from their older cousins. These cars make use of electronic key systems which only a qualified and specialized locksmith can decipher and change.

11. Making the Office Hotel More Welcoming
September 23, 2008
While some may question when the concept of an office hotel first emerged, the terminology generally dates from the early 1990s when firms began exploring it as a way to reduce costs through shared workspaces.
For some types of businesses it makes sense, for others it does not. One of the more storied examples of the latter is the experience of the Chiat/Day advertising agency after it decided to eliminate private offices and cubicles in 1995. According to the plan some 300 full-time employees would no longer have dedicated offices but instead work from wherever they wanted – home or on ... (read more)

You would have been bombarded by television commercials and print ads about the wonders of the new sleeping medications. However, you wouldn't have been confronted with strong warnings either of their potential risks. Multiple adverse reports have emerged ever since the introduction of the non-benzodiazepines (NBZ) class of drugs in the 1990s. 22. Fault Management using SNMP Traps over IPv6
September 08, 2008
Typically network management software was engineered in the 1990s, and computer programmers used older languages and transmission technologies, like the ubiquitous internet protocol version 4, or IPv4. 25. Swing Month
September 03, 2008
September is an interesting month. The Stock Trader's Almanac calls it the worst performing month of the year, but that is not always the case. During the late 1990s, September was great for stocks. The past couple of Septembers have also yielded positive returns.
The month corresponds with the peak of hurricane season, however. Though oil prices have pulled back from their record highs, any disruption to supplies could send crude prices gushing. Let's hope the damage from Gustav is minimal. Regarding the current economic environment, the general expectation is that data will not be... (read more)
