451. What's Wrong with the Catholic Church?
November 14, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2013. At the time of this writing, the Catholic Church is without a Pope. Probably they’ll select their new Pope within a few weeks. I am not, however, expecting that the new Pope will be asking for my advice. I am nobody in the Catholic Church, and have no desire to be a somebody with them. I’ve always been a Protestant. Do you see the word “protest” in the word “Protestant?” Probably about the first Protestant was Martin Luther. Luther had been a Catholic priest himself, who studied the Bible, as priests ought to do, and everyone else... (read more)

452. Searching for the Real Christianity
November 14, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2012. I became a Christian at the early age of about 4 years old. It was good that my mother had found a church that taught right doctrine. When I was about 16, approximately half a century ago, I remember sitting in church and thinking, "These people are nice people, but it seems like there ought to be more to Christianity than I have found thus far." I was right about that. There was more. Lots more. In Mark 16:17,18, Jesus said, "These signs shall follow those who believe, in my name, they'll cast out devils, they'll speak with new to... 453. According to Your Faith
November 14, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2013, all rights reserved. From the King James Version, in Matthew 9:29, Jesus said, "According to your faith be it unto you." In other words, you get what you're believing for. In that chapter there, it happened to be two blind men who wanted their eyesight. Jesus asked them if they believed he could heal them. They said yes. "Then he touched their eyes, saying, Have what you're believing for." (Holy Bible, Hoehn Version) And the blind men became seeing men. In Hebrews 11:6 it says, "But without faith it is impossible t... (read more)

454. The Most Difficult Task
November 14, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2013, all rights reserved. Some people have difficult things to do. Digging ditches with a shovel is quite laborious. I've done a little of it. They do it differently now, but when riveters were riveting steel ships together, that was very hard work, and rather dangerous handling those very hot rivets. Being a cook is not thought of as hard manual labor, but they often work in hot kitchens. It can be very hard to breathe if you're climbing Mt. Everest. But the hardest thing to do is control the tongue. ___James chapter ... (read more)

455. Most Prolific Author
November 14, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2013. Do you remember Stephen from the book of Acts? He was one of the seven chosen to oversee the serving of the tables so that the Apostles wouldn't be burdened with it. (Acts chapter 6) But God blessed and used Stephen. Acts chapter six, verses 8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. 9 Then certain of the synagogue that is called the synagogue of the Libertines arose, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. 10 And they were not ab... 456. Does the law of attraction really work, or is it a waste of time and energy?
November 14, 2013

Certainly, many “down-to-earth” people would laugh at the concept of the law of attraction. Isn’t science and hard facts the way forward? The law of attraction is not proven to exist, so isn’t hard work the only way to achieve abundance? Were those people who have success stories to tell and attribute them to the law of attraction, just lucky? This is how I would have reacted to the theory of the law of attraction a few years ago, I did not believe in anything that I could not see, touch or feel and that was not proven by science. That included god, of course. I have changed a lot s... (read more)

457. Hassidic Jewish Practice of Arranged Marriages
November 14, 2013

Hassidic Jewish Practice of Arranged Marriages By Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2012. 09/25/12 Last night, on Turner Classic Movies, on Cox Cable, they spoke to the effect that it’s about Yom Kippur season, so they chose to present some movies about Jewish culture. The movie I saw starred Rod Steiger in the role of a Hassidic Rabbi, and Maximilian Schell as an Orthodox Jew seeking to establish Israel in the land of Palestine. (So, the movie was probably from about the 1940’s). The son of one of those fathers tells the son of the other father that Hassidic Jews have arra... (read more)

458. Good News for Jews
November 14, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn Dear Rabbi: I have very good news. The Messiah waited for by the Jews has come. His name is Jesus. He was born of a virgin (Mary). Descended from David by genealogy. Was a Nazarene from Nazareth. Spent some time in Egypt ("Out of Egypt have I called my son"). Born in Bethlehem. He was preceded by John the Baptist, son of Zachariah and Elizabeth, who walked in the spirit and power of Elijah. John said of Jesus, "After me comes he that is mightier than me, whose shoe latchet I am unworthy to unloose." The words of Jesus are found in the books ... (read more)

459. Curing Homosexuals by Counseling?
November 14, 2013

By Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2011. Dear Michelle Bachman: 07/14/11 I believe it was radio talk show host Todd Schnitt who said something about your husband's psychiatry practice, or maybe it's psychology. Schnitt mentioned your husband trying to convert homosexuals to following Jesus and quitting homosexuality. It would be very good if your husband can convert homosexuals, and if he's successfully doing that, then he is no doubt casting out demons, as per Mark chapter 16. If your husband is casting out demons, that's great. We need much more of C... (read more)

460. The Christian Experience/How the Church has Fallen Short
November 14, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2012 Author's note: As a Christian since a small boy, and now a senior, I've seen good and bad occurrences in Christianity, but Christians have a bright future if they'll "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (Philippians 2:12) May we all strive to please the Lord. F.H. Some have called the United States a "Christian Nation." This is not exactly correct. America does have many Christians, but we also have people of other religions, and we have freedom of religion. We can't be forced to be any certain religion. There are ... (read more)

461. About Churches
November 14, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2012. Dear Mr. K: You asked me about a good church to go to. I've been praying about what church to go to for years, and I still don't know a really good one. I have church with people on a one-to-one basis when two or a few Christians meet, for it is written, "Wherever two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them," says Jesus. But in the package of things I handed you yesterday, there was a piece of paper listing a few churches. Some of them I got by going to www.Rhema.org. There's a place on that website about "... 462. Jesus Only?
November 14, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2012. There are individuals, and churches, and at least one denomination that have been deceived about the Godhead. I'm referring to "Jesus Only" people who think that God the Father, and the Holy Ghost (or, Holy Spirit, or Comforter) are just different forms of Jesus. In other words, they think that all of God is Jesus. Wrong. God the Father existed before Jesus did, as we can see from John 3:16, where Jesus is called the only begotten Son of God. Thus Jesus had a beginning, and God the Father pre-existed Jesus. That should be enough right... (read more)

463. Wear Fire Opal gemstone to get good results
November 13, 2013

Of the numerous forms of Opal Gemstones, Fire Opal is one of the rarest of them all. It is also unique and is demanded by the customers very often. It is also known as Girasol which is a type of opal that is mainly found near Central and South America. In the ancient period, people used to have great faith over this gemstone. They believed that it was the stone of paradise. Fire Opals gained their popularity in the early 1850s when the European Explorers found it. Found primarily in the countries of Mexico and Brazil, Fire opal is also the national stone of Mexico. There, the gemstone is... (read more)

464. Win Worley, Pioneer in Exorcism
November 13, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2012. Win Worley was pastor of the Hegewisch Baptist Church in Highland, IN. (near Hammond, IN) But I think he was from Texas. Perhaps near Mesquite, TX. He and his wife prayed and asked the Lord to just use them however He chose. The Lord led them into a deliverance ministry, that is, the casting out of demons (exorcism). I’m aware there was a movie about exorcism, or perhaps several. But I deliberately stay away from commercial movies on the subject because I’m sure they’re not made with diligence regarding correct theology, but rather, scr... (read more)

465. Letter to Glenn Beck
November 13, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2011. 05/26/11 Dear Glenn: I was listening to your program this morning, and you spoke of "The Righteousness of the Nations." Nice phrase, Glenn. Almost sounds like it might be right out of the Bible. Righteousness is a good aspiration for anyone to have. And God wanted ancient Israel to have it. You are probably a religious man, or you wouldn't be so much in favor of righteousness. But Glenn, you don't get people to join you in fervor for righteousness, unless they have a foundation for righteousness. But you might say that Ameri... (read more)

466. Arab Spring
November 13, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2012. In the Oct. 2012 issue of the Levitt Letter, author Ido Aharoni* writes about the “Arab Spring.” At the end of the article, he hopes for “democracy and prosperity for Muslims, Jews, and Christians alike.” But prosperity is not appropriate for Muslims because they have chosen to be followers of the false religion Islam. They say that Allah is God, but their Allah does not have a son Jesus. The real God has a son who is The Lord Jesus Christ. Muslims say that Jesus was a good man, and a prophet, but not the Son of God. In saying that, they c... (read more)

467. Epilepsy Solved
November 13, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2013. Dear Rhonda: A cure has been found for epilepsy. The cause of epilepsy is fallen angels, demons that get into people. The demons can be cast out of the epileptic by a Christian. Non-Christians ought not to try casting out demons, and could get seriously injured by such an ill-advised attempt. When Satan rebelled against God, some of the angels followed him. These are the fallen angels, the demons (or, devils). 468. Regarding Some False Preachers
November 13, 2013

Dave: It is a very serious mistake to oversimplify by saying, "Religion is just about money." Your enemy, Satan, and his demons want you to believe that lie. If they can get you to hold on to that lie, they'll likely get you to hell for eternity. It is true that televangelists, and radio preachers, and pastors of churches usually provide opportunity for people to donate, but YOU DON'T HAVE TO GIVE. The fact they would like your financial support doesn't necessarily mean that what they're preaching is lies, however I believe there are some false men of God preaching. ... (read more)

469. Why the Holocaust?
November 13, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2013 All through the Old Testament, God warns the Jews to be faithful to him. "Don't worship idols," God said. He told them, when they got into the promised land, don't intermarry with the people there. So what did they do? They intermarried with the people who were in the promised land, and started worshiping their idols. 471. The Problem of Demons
November 12, 2013

THE PROBLEM OF DEMONS by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2013. The other day, I heard a man say, "There's no heaven." But that's wrong, of course. If there's no heaven, then Jesus is a liar, but Jesus is not a liar. Bob has it figured wrong. And at this late stage of the game, it looks like he might run out of time before he gets it right. Bob’s a senior citizen. Jesus said you have to humble yourself like a little child to go to heaven. I don't think Bob has done that. People who don't go to heaven, of course, do go to hell, where there's weeping and gnashing of teeth, wher... (read more)

November 12, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2013. It was on one of the history channels recently about how an ancient Pharaoh of Egypt had had his servants prepare for him a place of "Eternal Residence." Oh, is that what they were doing? I didn't watch the whole program, I don't need the details of that crazy religion that the Egyptians had. Though I haven't been to Egypt, I've seen pictures. That's where you find those huge pyramids. Some of those pyramids were probably built by Jewish slaves during the four centuries or so that ancient Israel was in Egypt. You may remember... 473. Healing for the Body
November 12, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2013 The little book, "In Him," is by Kenneth E. Hagin. He is the best Bible teacher that I have found, among those in full-time ministry. Better than any pastor, or evangelist, or any other teacher. I believe I've learned more from him than from any other man on earth. I guess he passed away in about 2003, at about age 87, but he wrote close to 100 books while he was on earth, most of which were best-sellers (selling over a million copies each). He also has audio tapes, etc. You can go to www.Rhema.org on the internet, for more books by Kenneth E. ... (read more)

475. Typhoon Hits Philippines
November 12, 2013

by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2013 It's been in the news a lot lately about a killer typhoon that hit the Philippines. Many were killed. Many more were displaced. Humanitarian aid is being sent to the Philippines. The U.S. military is helping out. It was said that this was the worst storm of its kind, ever, in terms of destructive power. There has been talk about "Hundred Year Storms," meaning storms that occur, on average, only about every hundred years. The problem with that terminology is that some of these so-called "hundred year storms" are happening mu... (read more)
