Anarchism is a political philosophy encompassing theories and attitudes which consider the state, as compulsory government, to be unnecessary, harmful, and/or undesirable, and favors the absence of the state ( anarchy). [1][2][3][4][5] While some dictionaries define "anarchy" or "anarchism" as chaos and/or disorder [6][7][8][9] this narrow scope of the term is not how it is used in this article. Specific anarchists may have additional criteria for what constitutes anarchism, and they often disagree with each other on what these criteria are. According to The Oxford Companion to Philosophy, "there is no single defining position that all anarchists hold, and those considered anarchists at best share a certain family resemblance."[10] There are many types and traditions of anarchism, not all of which are mutually exclusive.[11] Different versions of anarchism have been categorized as socialist anarchism and individualist anarchism or similar dual classifications.[12][13][14] Anarchism is often considered to be a radical left-wing ideology,[15][16][17] and much of anarchist economics and anarchist legal philosophy reflect anti-statist interpretations of communism, collectivism, syndicalism or participatory economics; however, anarchism has for some time included an economic and legal individualist strain,[18] with that strain supporting an anarchist free-market economy and private property (like old anarcho-individualism and today's anarcho-capitalism).[19][20][21] Others, such as panarchists and anarchists without adjectives, neither advocate nor object to any particular form of organization as long as it is not compulsory. Some anarchist schools of thought differ fundamentally, supporting anything from extreme individualism to complete collectivism.[5] The central tendency of anarchism as a social movement have been represented by communist anarchism, with anarcho-individualism being primarily a philosophical/literary phenomenon.[22] Some anarchists fundamentally oppose all forms of aggression, supporting self-defense or non-violence, while others have supported the use of some coercive measures, including violent revolution and terrorism, on the path to anarchy.[23]

1. pardon? is Anarchic-feminism?
May 28, 2009
Anarcha-feminism has also been called anarchist feminism and anarcho feminism. It unites both the ideologies of anarchism and feminism.
They hold the view that patriarchy is as a manifestation of an involuntary hierarchy. The anarchist struggle against patriarchy is also an important part of the class struggle against the state.
The philosophy behind this view is that the anarchist struggle is a necessary component of the feminist struggle and vice-versa.
It has been purported that both anarchism and feminist go hand in hand. As anarchism is a political philosophy that opposes a... (read more)

The Meaning of Social Justice

The Origins of Society
"...the lower classes of the people... [are] by far the most numerous in all countries and in all ages..."
-- James Steuart, 1767 [*1]
Every society is founded on a common principle. A group of people is more capable of producing more together than each person would be individually. Industrialized production and specialized labor are some examples of how the group size contributes to a larger per-person output of the social product. In this organization, the worker's ability to labor ... (read more)

4. For or Against Anarchism
October 12, 2007
Different dictionaries give practically the same definition of anarchism: it is some kind of social order based on free grouping of individuals to produce social wealth and guarantees for everybody to enjoy the same rights and necessities for life. Both King and Goldman support human disobedience. They state that the law which is acting against people should be eliminated. People have the right to be free and live as they want. They consider liberty and freedom are rights and if they are concealed people should fight against its tormenters. King supposes that it is necessary to create the l... (read more)

5. A Black Cat is Just a Cat
July 25, 2006
On the cover of my book "Your New Cat's First 24 Hours", http://www.yourcatsecrets.com, I place a picture of my cat, Bear. Bear is as black as the inside of a coal bin, and is the first black cat I've ever had. Historically, black cats have been associated with omens, bad luck and, well...evil. The poor unfortunate kitties have been used in rituals, and were supposedly the "familiars" of witches. Anarchism has used the symbol of the black cat, as has Wicca, the modern day expression of Witchcraft. Superstition has associated bad luck with having a black cat cross your path. All-in-all, th... 6. Intellectual Property will soon be History
January 10, 2006
It is not too risky to affirm that intellectual property will soon be History.
Rules designed for the paper era are not useful, enforceable and cost-economic in the Web era.
Here are a few reasons:
1) Intellectual property is not designed for the Web times
I strongly believe that intellectual property will soon be history, not because Anarchism will succeed over Capitalism, but because the Net Economy will find new ways to control ownership of words and patents.
Words alone are mostly worthless. Nobody is able to make money out of them anymore. Let's take s... (read more)
