1. Wine Food Pairing - I'll have some "pine" wine with my Tsatsiki!
September 02, 2007
I have traveled all over the world and enjoyed Wine Food Pairing in some delightful spots. This adventure took me to Linz, Austria, where we visited a Greek restaurant just outside the city, perched atop a small cliff with a terrific view of the Danube, or Donau, as it is called in Austria. AIONYSOS was highly recommended by several of our friends in the area and by the time we arrived it was peak dinner hour. The place was more than packed…always a sign that the food is great. We came in and were greeted by a host who took our name and handed us a shot of ouzo while we waited….you have ... (read more)

2. Wine Food pairing ... Bahamian cracked conch and?
September 01, 2007
I love to do Wine Food Pairing with foods that are outside of mainstream America, so for this adventure I crossed the "Gulf" stream and cruised over to the Bahamas! Bimini, Bahamas, only 42 miles east of Miami is an easy day trip in your boat and until last January 2007 you could "catch" your own conch for supper. I say catch, but they really don't move to fast…..in fact barely at all. At this time, with new Bahamian regulations in place, only Bahamian citizens can harvest the "mollusk" beast. This last April, when friends and I had a Bimini Bash, we had to wait for the "conch" dude to a... (read more)

3. Wine Food Pairing ...my famous potato salad, grilled brats and?
September 01, 2007
Wine Food Pairing ….I absolutely love it. It allows my imagination to run wild with possibilities! I am famous for my All American potato salad….at least with my friends and neighbors, and of course that's all that matters. I have even lined up friends at my kitchen counter and given lessons….some of them actually wrote down what I said…even though I really don't have exact measurements or anything….mostly, I do it by taste…..trial and error. To start off, I begin by opening a family sized (1.5 liter) bottle of Cavit Pinot Grigio from Italy. I take down my favorite Tervis tumblers w... (read more)

4. 12 KEYS TO SUCCESS - Having A Burning Desire
September 01, 2007
KEY #5 – Have A Burning Desire
Again, this is a very important key that is going to help you open the door to your success. Without this key, it is almost impossible for you to achieve success. In this world, who doesn’t want to be rich, who doesn’t want to be successful? Everyone wants success. If you meet a beggar, just ask him whether is he wants to be successful. I bet, he’ll say yes. But then he will always remain as a beggar, why? Because he doesn’t have the burning desire to be success!
So what exactly does this burning desire mean? Burning desire is not the same as what you w... (read more)

5. Is Breastfeeding For You
August 31, 2007
The health benefits that a baby gets from breastfeeding are crucial to a child’s development. So the question remains, is breastfeeding for you? Mother's milk contains the most perfect optimal mixture of antibodies and nutrients that a child needs for their growing and developing bodies while enabling it to keep pace with the changing nutritional needs of the child. While formula has come a long way and very nutritional it has yet been able to duplicate or replace what mother's milk gives to the child.
Breastfeeding is natural, it is by far the most nutritional but breastfeeding is also a... (read more)

6. 12 KEYS TO SUCCESS - Be Responsible
August 31, 2007
KEY #4 – Be Responsible
This is a very great key. If you can take all the responsibility, then you won’t blame anyone. You must know that this is your life, and if you want to success, you will have to walk this road on your own. Don’t give any excuses and don’t blame anyone if you fail. Have you ever heard of this words “if only”? This is a very lousy excuse often given by many people. Let me give you some example here. “If only I have a car, then I can make more money”, “if only I have more time, then I will invest my money”. Frankly, did you ever hear all these excuses before? Are you ... (read more)

7. MILLIONAIRE SECRETS - The Power Of Savings
August 30, 2007
THE POWER OF SAVINGS
Look around you, your friends and your families. How many of them are actually a Millionaire? None? But if I tell you that, in fact most of them can be a Millionaire merely with just savings, what will you think? This is true. Now allow me to tell you this fact. If you make good use of mathematics, and think logically, everyone of us has got the potential to be a Millionaire in our lifetime.
Why did I said so? Here is an example, if you are earning $3,000 per month, you will have made $36,000 a year. Then for over 40 years, you will have approximately $1.44 milli... (read more)

8. Wine Food Pairing...I always thought outside of the box!
August 29, 2007
Wine food pairing….I always thought outside the box…that is until I recently went to the Miami Boat Show! My perception of boxed wines had always been that they were really inexpensive and gave you a headache in the morning. Boy, was I wrong! The latest, greatest packaging of wine now includes boxes….great for the boater that has storage and weight issues….go figure! There were several vendors at the show proudly displaying the wines boxes. In addition, samples were being distributed to all who passed by. I was surprised at the quality wines being offered. I struck up a conversation... (read more)

9. Wine Food Pairings....cork, screw top, or?
August 29, 2007
Wine Food Pairings make most of us nervous just thinking about it, but wait, someone just threw a monkey wrench (or should I say corkscrew!) into the mix! Many wineries, in fact almost 90 and 8% of the wines that are sealed with a cork has that delightful moldy, kind of like wet cardboard taste and smell? The cause of cork taint is a mystery and is supposed to be harmless, but who wants to drink it? In addition, what food do you "pair" it with? I don't think you'll find any wine food pairing chart giving advice on that! The screw tops of today are highly engineered pieces of metal that ... (read more)

10. Wine Food Pairing....I'll have a glass of Zweigelt, please!
August 29, 2007
My Wine Food Pairing adventures have taken me to Austria on occasion, and is there anything more romantic than sitting in an Austrian wine house, known as a heurigen? A typical heurigen is marked by pine boughs over the door and has large wooden picnic tables and benches. Many of them have seating outside in courtyard gardens….usually, they have a wonderful view. Visitors seat themselves and order their wine at the table from a passing server. After a few glasses of wine, visitors then head up to buffet counter to get their food and bring it back to the table. Potato salads, pickled vegetab... (read more)

11. Wine Food Pairing .... Sturm, Austria's tasty "juice"
August 29, 2007
I was in Austria a couple of years ago on a beautiful fall day…The leaves were turning, the sky was blue and although it was warm, there was a bit of autumn in the air. I was sitting in a picturesque garden café with my husband and one of his long time friends. My German is poor at best and ordering food and beverage is sometimes a challenge for me, but because we had walked to the café and I was extremely thirsty, I told the guys I just wanted some juice to quench my thirst. A flurry of German words sailed over my head and I was assured by my husband that the "Sturm" would fit the bill……a ... (read more)

12. Wine Food Pairing .... STOP...someone stole the stem off my wine glass!
August 29, 2007
STOP….nobody move! The stem is missing off my wine glass! Wasn't it here just a couple of days ago? The latest craze or fashion if you will is the stemless wine glass. The Stemless wine glass is catching on with more and more consumers in the US trendiest restaurants, thanks to the wine industry efforts to demystify wine or the glass companies attempt to sell more stemware or in this case stemless ware! I guess it seems a bit more "earthy" to swirl your favorite wine in a tumbler versus holding a goblet by the stem. In Europe, for years, they've served wine in various shaped receptacles... 13. Wine Food Pairing ...what goes with Turducken?
August 29, 2007
What, you ask, is a Turducken....and why would I want or need to do Wine Food Pairing with it? The answer to these questions is not for the faint of heart! About 4 years ago I was watching a Thanksgiving cooking show and perked up my ears when I heard something about stuffing your turkey with a duck and then stuffing the duck with a chicken…..hence Turducken. Holy Cow, my new Thanksgiving tradition was born! I really didn't get all the particulars, but I knew the internet wouldn't fail me, and it didn't…….I found several methods and recipes for putting this mouth watering treat on my table... (read more)

14. Wine Food Pairing ...it's NOT rocket science!
August 29, 2007
Wine Food Pairing is an adventure, not an exact science. It is important that you do not take yourself too seriously, but to experiment and enjoy the wonderful tastes and textures of wines that are available to us today! I have enjoyed wine food pairing since I was a youngster up in the Pacific Northwest where my parents made wine from berries that we picked. They teamed up with a neighbor, recently transplanted from Austria, and came up with some delightful combinations of flavors! With any wine food pairing, personal taste comes into play. Everyone has different body chemistry. This p... (read more)

Walking On Water My Way
I was sitting in a limousine on my way out to South Hampton to join members of my flock stewing over the traffic, I wasn’t about to take a helicopter out after my experience on the plane with Abdul the terrorist, when the thought struck me that the Hamptons was probably the only place that I Johnny Oops would be safe wearing a white suit. My Plane Ride From Hell
Here I am negotiating for the safety of a planeload of people with a Sheikh named Abdul Rehilla, a member of a radical Indian Sect who had been involved in a train bombing in Mumbai, India, which killed, and wounded hundreds of Indians.
Abdul told me, we soon became fast friends on a first name basis, that he was really a nice guy, but was protesting his Sect being dis... (read more)
