1. Boating Adventures With Captain Bob
August 27, 2006

The following is a true story and the names have not been changed because there are no innocent, we were all guilty of stupidity. This happened quite a few summers ago, but is as clear today as back then. After reading, you'll understand why. We all started out bright and early for a day out on the water. The five of us; my brothers Rick and Dave, myself and two Bob's, Bob P. and Captain Bob were looking forward to a fun day out boating. Since we all lived in the city, and none of us owned a boat we went on down to Bill's Boat Rentals on Miller's Island. Bill was a crusty old fellow who r... (read more)

2. Daily Surrender Psalms 106:36
August 25, 2006

August 17, 2006 Psalms 106:36 And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them. In Greek mythology, Homer tells us of Oedipus’ journey home. Oedipus had to sail near the realm of the sirens. (Sirens: mythological mermaids) Sirens lured sailors by singing beautiful songs. Attracted, mariners would then steer their ships toward what they thought were beautiful women, but were led to hidden rocks under the surface of the water, which caused the loss of both vessel and crew. Oedipus knew of the danger of responding to the sirens call, but he wanted to hear their song. He asked hi... (read more)

4. Using The Sun To Run Dock Lights
July 07, 2006

As alternative energy sources gain more popularity, companies expand their applications. Self contained solar panels lights are now being used on docks. Using The Sun To Run Dock Lights When boating, safety is the most important thing to consider. This is especially true at night, when just the simple act of docking your boat can be tricky. You definitely need to light your way to your dock, whether you’ve got a big boat or a small one. A great way to show your way in are solar dock lights. Many dock lights rely on batteries or electricity to power them. Both options are fine, ... (read more)

5. Fishing From a Motor Boat Or Row Boat Is An Exciting Activity That Sometimes Requires An Adventurer Spirit
June 26, 2006

Boat fishing is an exciting activity that sometimes requires an adventurer spirit in order to get the best catch. Ranging from the stability of sliding-seats rowboats, to the powerful motor board, fishing on ponds, rivers and lakes can become an unforgettable experience. Because lakes are fed by creeks, rivers, and springs, it depends on the water stream when selecting between a rowboat and a motor boat. Ponds are best for rowing, because most of them are the result of rain runoff or modest springs, without the irregular shorelines of lakes that require more boating skills. Some ponds are... The world's leading luxury yacht show in Monaco is to pay for 55 wind turbines in New Zealand - enough to generate power for 45,000 homes - making the event 'carbon neutral'. Under the watchful eye of Prince Albert, the yacht show is part of Monaco's new stance on global warming, and comes shortly after Prince Albert himself travelled to the North Pole in April to highlight the damage he believes global warming is having on the environment. 8. Building a 16 ft. Grand Banks dory
May 16, 2006

As a kid I did a lot of boat building, mainly scale models that were not able to sail, although I did actual build a few boats that were, more or less, capable of sailing. I even once build a 10 feet boat, or shall I say raft. I accomplished this with a few friends and we had great fun sailing it on the local river. It was not really water proof and while one person was rowing, the others had to make sure that they removed the water quicker then it was entering our boat. Then sadly one day we failed. I was rowing at the time, and we were in the middle of the river when it was clear we wer... (read more)
