June 08, 2007
Baiting up and fishing with hook baits like paste or dough baits, pellets or boilies are an accepted ‘method’ for catching catfish and carp. But there are far more effective baits and methods...
When these baits have been prepared, soaked and impregnated with an additional attractive additives they can really be maximised as ground baits or ‘free baits.’ or hook baits. The best way and most instant method to use boilie baits for ground baits is to crush them.
Ideally you will add very generous quantities of amino acids supplements and betaine hydrochloride with added mineral salts to... (read more)

3. Replacing an Intermediate Shroud at Sea
June 03, 2007
EXTRACT FROM ‘VOYAGE OF THE LITTLE SHIP TERE MOANA’ REPLACING AN INTERMEDIATE SHROUD AT SEA: Making good time sailing into the advancing twilight of yet another magnificent tropical evening, all is well with the world and she is feeling quite grand, settling in for a good nights’ progress toward Manihi. Skipping along on a port tack, her cutwater effortlessly slicing through the faintly ruffled but slinky water, she knows she is cutting a fine image, and just faintly irritated she has no gallery of onlookers to acknowledge her finery. Her crew appreciate the show, but some recog... (read more)

April 23, 2007
Do you have a problem with your present fishing bait or recipe? Some catfish and carp baits are very limited in their attraction and catch results, due to their high proportion of insoluble ingredients. It is in fact, the soluble proportion which truly stimulates the fish most effectively into eating your bait and getting hooked!
For example, you may have a very basic homemade bait which catches a few fish, perhaps a chicken meal based bait with added garlic and honey, bound together by semolina. So what parts of this bait are doing the real work of attracting the fish?
The chicken... (read more)

7. BIG CARP FISHING BAIT SECRETS - The Drugging Power of Plant Extracts
April 23, 2007
When you think of fishing baits often meats and proteins come to mind. Worms and liver for example have their place, but what can you think of that can actually multiply the performance and catch rates of these baits? Why not turn your bait into a ‘drug!’
Some of the most important health providing and ‘recreational’ drugs originally have plant origins although these days, many are ‘cloned’ or copied using synthetic chemicals. Even the most basic of whole plant product baits like sweetcorn, maize, hempseed and ‘chufas’ or tiger nuts or peanuts have powerful effects on fish, having brough... (read more)

8. BIG FISH BAITS - Not a Question of Luck
April 23, 2007
Some days when you’re fishing for bigger fish of the carp or catfish kind, it seems like everything you try just won’t produce a ‘bite.’ But then something happens that changes everything. What is that special something? Let’s see...
You know those days when those fish are seen cruising and sunning themselves and look easy enough to catch in a big net if you got close enough! But to get them to eat a bait seems utterly futile? Generally these hard times can be attributed to the prevailing temperatures and air pressures, or angling pressure, or fish may pre-occupied with spawning rituals ... (read more)

10. Choosing The Right Boat
April 17, 2007
Boating can be fun, but it can likewise be a high priced state of affairs too particularly if you want to own your own boat. The most common trap that most first time boat buyers fall into is to purchase the one that attracts their eyes first.
Prior to making the decision to purchase your first boat, you must be aware that there are a great deal of different types of boats out there in the market. Purchasing the most attractive boat does not mean you are going to be satisfied with it particularly later when you find out that it does not permit you to do the things that you want it to do.... 14. SERIOUSLY BIG CARP and GIANT CATFISH - Experience with Rods
April 11, 2007
Due to effects of global warming and the massive application of quality nutritional baits, carp and catfish have been growing much bigger than previously ever imagined. When it comes to carp especially, this has caught out many anglers whose perception of the correct tackle to handle much bigger fish is not accurate at all!
The number of big carp hooked in the UK over 40 pounds has really risen noticeably, while in other parts of Europe especially in France, this sized fish is merely regarded as a baby at certain fisheries, where carp can exceed 60 and 70 pounds. Here’s my insights i... (read more)

15. HUNGRY CARP FISHING FLAVOURS - Observations and Thoughts
April 11, 2007
Why are we carp anglers so interested in flavours? Is it because of the effect of them on us when we smell their often gorgeous lingering aromas, immediately making us feel hungry?
Most flavours in commercial are primarily use extremely soluble alcohol and glycerol bases. However many really great ‘original’ versions of flavours are far more than just this. Proven examples of recommended well proven flavours from more well known UK suppliers are:
* Richworth: (Stream select) ‘Tutti Fruiti.’
* Rod Hutchinson: ‘Scopex,’ ‘Mulberry Florentine,’ ‘Monster crab,’ and ‘Mega spice.’ ... (read more)

Many flavours general effectiveness on different waters differs over the season and in which bait they are used. Probably the biggest variable in using flavours is the best level to use in a bait or bait soak or dip mixture.
Flavours are often used conventionally as a ‘label’ to differentiate your bait from others, perhaps even on a similar base mix. The orthod... (read more)

17. HOMEMADE CATFISH BAITS - Introduction to Great Beginner Ingredients
April 11, 2007
I’ve caught cats to over 110 pounds on homemade baits and over 25 above 60 pounds here in the UK so I know these baits work! Making your own homemade baits has massive advantages. Homemade big catfish bait and homemade big carp bait design has many similarities especially in how you use nutritional essential requirements to trigger each fish into feeding!
