Aristocracy is a form of government, in which a few of the most prominent citizens rule. This may be a hereditary elite, or it may be by a system of cooption where a council of prominent citizens and leading soldiers, merchants, land owners, priests, and lawyers to their number. This form of government was used commonly in ancient Greece, as well as monarchy, oligarchy, tyranny, and democracy in Athens. Aristocracies have most often been hereditary plutocracies. They sometimes include a monarch who although a member of the aristocracy, rules over it as well as over the rest of society. The term "aristocracy" is derived from the Greek language aristokratia, meaning 'the rule of the best'.[1] See Aristocracy for the historical roots of the term.

Papillons are a dedicated and very affectionate dog breed, and they are pretty quick when it comes to absorbing training. Among the European aristocracy, which happened to be its early fans, it was known as the Butterfly Dog (for the pattern on its head, and the shape of its ears) or as the Squirrel Spaniel (for the shape of its tail). Indeed, so cherished was this talented breed that it was the star of many Italian frescoes during the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries. The Papillon of average health reached fourteen to sixteen years of age.

September 10, 2009
A European cartographer called John Spilsbury, is most likely the first person to make a jigsaw puzzle. In 1767, he cut a wooden map of the British Empire into pieces so the aristocracy's children will know the geography of the lands Britain ruled. It was not easy creating a jigsaw puzzle due all the work involved as you can imagine.Wooden jigsaw puzzles soon arrived to the U.S. and became an entertainment for adults as well. In good old days, pearl jewelry was the sign of royalty, aristocracy and wealth. 15. Convert your Weekends as Spa Weekends by luxurious spa packages
August 05, 2009
Time was when the very idea of beauty treatments, hotel spa breaks or a luxury spa weekend would have seemed just a bit...well...odd.
It wasn't a very British thing to do. It involved revealing more flesh than any third party should ever be exposed to. It involved relaxing. It involved taking care of yourself, taking time for yourself and, God forbid, enjoying yourself. In old Britain it was only ever the aristocracy that embraced such concepts. Everyone else was far too busy scrubbing the front step, having babies and heading down the mine. Sometimes all three at the same time. The very ... (read more)

18. Ethnic Hand Crafts of Egypt
July 02, 2009
Early Egyptians were inspired by gaining favor with the Gods and preparing for the afterlife. Ancient Egyptian arts and crafts developed as a medium to delight and honor the Gods rather than as a way to make functional items for daily use. In ancient Egypt, talented artists were exalted members of the royal hierarchy and their work was very much in demand by pharaoh and the aristocracy. When we visualize Egyptian art, we picture the pyramids, Sphinx and reserves of King Tut's tomb. These are all amazing examples of traditional Egyptian artistry.
