An autobiography (from the Greek, a?t??- autos self + ß???- bios life + ???fe??- graphein to write) is a book about the life of a person, written by that person. The word autobiography was first used by the poet Robert Southey in 1809 in the English periodical, the Quarterly Review, but the form goes back to antiquity. Biographers generally rely on a wide variety of documents and viewpoints; an autobiography however may be based entirely on the writer's memory. Closely associated with autobiography (and sometimes difficult to precisely distinguish from it) is the form of memoir. In antiquity such works were typically entitled apologia, implying as much self-justification as self-documentation. John Henry Newman's autobiography (first published in 1864) is entitled Apologia Pro Vita Sua in reference to this tradition. The pagan rhetor Libanius (c. 314–394) framed his life memoir (Oration I begun in 374) as one of his orations, not of a public kind, but of a literary kind that could be read aloud in privacy.

10. Anthony Trollope's Autobiography
September 16, 2009
This is wonderful book, to own, to treasure, to read and re-read for a lifetime!
Trollope's Autobiography is a perennial source of wisdom--besides being inspirational--to writers, but in particular to fiction writers. The book in general is an ABC of perfect, round sentences, and sentence variation, which of course makes for agile prose.
However, personally, I find three chapters that are unsurpassed in English letters: Chapter VII which contains his 'Scheme of Work;' Chapter X deals with language and the homage to Thackeray; and Chapter XII with Novels and the Art of Writing them.

One way to achieve eternal life is to write down your thoughts. Of course, it is impossible to live forever but, at least, your written words can be preserved and your memory could go on. This can be done with the help of online journals, diaries and memoirs.
Before you sit down and write your online memoir, you need first to take into consideration a number of factors. Keep in mind that, in effect, an online memoir works the same way as an autobiography. The first thing, therefore, that you would need to think about is whether you would be writing your whole life or just parts of it. The... (read more)

13. Your Resume' Is Not Your Autobiography
August 03, 2009
The most common mistake made by people who attempt to put together their first resume is that they put in too much information. They want to describe everything that they have ever done from the moment of conception to the present. The resume ends up being too long, and nobody will read it.
The most important piece of information that you should retain is that your resume, no matter how well it is put together, will only get a 15 to 30 second review by the person who does the initial screening.
That person is normally someone in Human Resources whose job is to look at hundreds of ... (read more)

In our world of duality, we are given both the light and the dark. To know one is to understand the other. The two are interchangeable. To have one, we must have the other. We are all part of the Great I Am - the Great One Spirit. Cosmic consciousness is defined as a knowing of this great oneness, a feeling and knowledge of this great secret of expanding consciousness. 23. 7 Tips on How to Write a Book
February 16, 2009
1. Write your book. Whether it’s non-fiction or fiction, Fantasy, Autobiography, Crime or Mystery, just write what you feel. Never worry about editing as you go; as that will bury your creativity. 2. Find a quiet place to write. An extra bedroom, office, or even a garage (preferably heated), are all good places “away from it all.” Never look for your muse where friends or family are always interrupting you. 3. Set time aside to write. It takes time to find your inspiration to write. It’s not likely you will write well or accomplish much in a ten minute session. Allow yourself at l... (read more)
