Bache railway station serves the
Bache area in the north of the city of
Chester,
England. It lies on the
Wirral Line of the
Merseyrail network, on the Chester branch.
Passengers are advised to change here for a bus service to Chester Zoo.
The current station, situated 700m SE of the original Upton-by-Chester station, opened in January 1984. Its relocation coincided with the development of a new supermarket on the site of a former railway coalyard at Bache. The new station cost £145,000.[citation needed]
The original station was sited at Liverpool Road. It had two facing platforms, a footbridge and a manned ticket office. Today only the overgrown platforms remain. These can still be seen from trains travelling to and from Liverpool.
