Search Results - Biosynthesis

Type in a word or phrase to search, you can also type in Article ID's separated by commas:

Biosynthesis (also called biogenesis) is an enzyme-catalyzed process in cells of living organisms by which substrates are converted to more complex products. The biosynthesis process often consists of several enzymatic steps in which the product of one step is used as substrate in the following step. Examples for such multi-step biosynthetic pathways are those for the production of amino acids, fatty acids, and natural products. Biosynthesis plays a major role in all cells, and many dedicated metabolic routes combined constitute general metabolism.

The prerequisites for biosynthesis are precursor compounds, chemical energy (such as in the form ATP), and catalytic enzymes, which may require reduction equivalents (e.g., in the form of NADH, NADPH).

Commonly known complex products of biosynthesis include proteins, vitamins, and antibiotics. Most organic compounds in living organisms are built in biosynthetic pathways.

1. Kre-Alkalyn- The Best Ceratine Pills Available in The Market
February 22, 2009

Creatine is defined as a physically arising nitrogenous acid, which is found in the skeletal muscle tissues. Creatine performs the function of supplying energy to our nerve cells and muscles. It is anticipated that our body generates about 50% of its every day need of ceratine by the process of biosynthesis. The process of biosynthesis takes place on gylcine, methionine or amino acids and arginine. The remaining half is obtained from the meal that we eat. At present there are loads of controversies about the operation and the affect of ceratine on the human body. However, researches were... (read more)

2. Guanidinoacetate methyltransferase deficiency
September 12, 2008

Guanidinoacetate methyltransferase deficiency (GAMT) is a genetic disorder that first and foremost affects the nervous system and muscles. Guanidinoacetate methyltransferase deficiency creatine biosynthesis imperfection, leads to depletion of creatine and phosphocreatine, and accumulation of guanidinoacetate in brain. Creatine in the person body is derived from two sources: the diet and endogenous synthesis. These disorders generally show in the first few months of life, when development of new motor and cognitive skills becomes delayed or stops. Finally, affected children may drop previously ... 3. Glutamine Benefits and its functions
November 13, 2006

Glutamine: Biosynthesis of glutamine from glutamate is catalyzed by glutamine synthesis, and enzyme present in high quantities in renal tissue. This reaction is similar and different to that of glutamate dehydrogenase. Both fix inorganic nitrogen-but one into amino and other into amide linkage. Both are exergonic reactions-glutamine synthetase the hydrolysis of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate), and glutamate dehydrogenase the oxidation of NAD (P) H (Nicotanamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate). As the ammonia is constantly produced in the tissues, so is removed from the circulation by the li... (read more)

4. NADH
July 07, 2006

NADH stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. NADH is a naturally occurring coenzyme nutrient for people desiring a stimulant-free energy boost. NADH (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) works as a redox active substance and participates in biologic energy production. Some facts have shown that a mitochondrial DNA mutation appears to cause a defective complex I in the mitochondria of Parkinson's disease patients. Complex I is consist of NADH: ubiquinone oxidoreductase. It is contemplated that due to stimulation of levodopa biosynthesis Exogenous NADH may improve symptoms in some with ... (read more)
