The blood vessels are the part of the circulatory system that transport blood throughout the body. There are three major types of blood vessels the arteries, which carry the blood away from the heart, the capillaries, which enable the actual exchange of water and chemicals between the blood and the tissues; and the veins, which carry blood from the capillaries back towards the heart. The arteries and veins have the same structure with three layers, from inside to outside. as well as nutrient capillaries (vasa vasorum) in the larger blood vessels. When blood vessels connect to form a region of diffuse vascular supply it is called an anastomosis (pl. anastomoses). Anastomoses provide critical alternative routes for blood to flow in case of blockages.

1. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
November 18, 2009
What is Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm ?
An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a bulge in the aorta (the aorta is the main blood vessel coming from the heart that supplies blood to all organs) in your abdomen. In the case of an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), an aneurysm develops in the part of the aorta that extends through the abdomen. The bulge occurs below the renal arteries (kidneys) and may extend into the iliac arteries (legs). Most AAAs occur in association with advanced atherosclerosis, an accumulation of fatty deposits on the vessel wall.

3. Maintaining Natural Therapy For Blood Pressure
November 13, 2009
One of the more common treatments for high blood pressure are ACE inhibitors. When your kidneys detect low blood pressure, they release an enzyme called renin, which stimulates the formation of a protein called angiotensin I. Angiotensin I is then converted by the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in the lungs to a very potent chemical called angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is a powerful blood vessel constrictor that causes muscles surrounding the blood vessels to contract, resulting in narrowing of the blood vessels. This narrowing of the vessels increases pressure in the vessels and can res... (read more)

6. Time Tested Ayurveda Remedies for Hypertension
November 11, 2009
Vata is responsible for the blood vessels constricting and this often happens to people in their old age around 65. The blood vessel walls thickens and the passage becomes narrow, and this results high blood pressure.
Pitta on the other hand, is related to the rushing of blood with more force, increasing the blood pressure.
Like vata, kapha too narrows the arteries but it is related to increase blood viscosity as a result of fatty deposits in the artery walls.
Some causes for high blood pressure includes anger and anxiety, emotional and physical stress. Heavy resp... (read more)

Once you quit, your risk of having a heart attack is reduced after the first year. So you have a lot to gain by quitting.

Exercise is very important in managing type 2 diabetes. Combining diet, exercise, and medicine (when prescribed) will help control your weight and blood sugar level.
Exercise helps control type 2 diabetes by:
•Improving your body's use of insulin. •Burning excess body fat, helping to decrease and control weight (decreased body fat results in improved insulin sensitivity). •Improving muscle strength. •Increasing bone density and strength. •Lowering blood pressure. •Helping to protect against heart and blood vessel disease by lowering 'bad' LDL cholesterol and increasing 'goo... 12. High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) and Your Pets
October 01, 2009
High Blood Pressure (hypertension) is very common in our pets, but often goes undiagnosed until it leads to life threatening emergencies. Problems from high blood pressure arise when a blood vessel gets too small for the high pressure flow going through it. Since the affected vessels are small, the bleeding may not be noticeable but a lot of little bleeds and a lot of blood vessel destruction can create big problems over time.
Your pet's retina is especially at risk, with either sudden or gradual blindness often being the first sign of latent high blood pressure. The kidneys are also tar... (read more)

15. What Are the Symptoms & Preventive Measures of Atherothrombosis
September 25, 2009
Atherothrombosis is commonly a disease of older adults mainly because of the eventual buildup of deposits and the wear and tear on the blood vessels. This process may be accelerated in people who have uncontrolled risk factors and can also happen to younger adults.
Atherothrombosis of the arterial blood supply to the lower limbs can lead to an occlusion of the blood vessel, known as peripheral arterial disease or PAD. The blood supply to the segment that is supplied by the artery concerned is cut off. This can lead to the cut off of supply of nutrients to the area. If infection sets in, ... (read more)

TREATMENTS WHEN SURGERY IS NOT POSSIBLE.
For some people, surgery may be too risky. These people have other options for treating their Kidney cancers, including:
1. Blocking blood flow to the tumor (embolization). In this procedure, a special material is injected into the main blood vessel leading to the kidney. By clogging this vessel, the tumor is deprived of oxygen and other nutrients. Arterial embolization also may be used before an operation or to relieve pain and bleeding when an operation isn't possible. Side effects may include temporary nausea, vomiting or pain. 2. Treatm... 18. PDA Closure Device Surgery In India At Low Cost - PDA Closure Device
September 17, 2009
PDA Closure Device treatment in India Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a Congenital defect in which the temporary blood vessel connecting the left pulmonary artery to the aorta in the fetal heart fails to close after birth. In the fetal heart, blood bypasses the lungs and gets oxygen from the placenta. But when the newborn's lungs take over at birth, the body stops producing the chemicals that keep the ductus arteriosus open, and it closes naturally. If the ductus arteriosus fails to close completely, the baby has PDA. While this problem is rare, it is sometimes associated with ... (read more)
