4. Prayer and Marriage
May 06, 2011
‘Americans are spending billions, and the word is billions, of dollars to go to counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, you name it. If only, but they’ve got to believe, they’ve got to have the faith. They’ve got to believe the most important thing that they need as married people is God’s grace.” “Three sources of grace: prayer, the sacraments, and cooperating with the grace you’ve got. “ - Fr. 5. Economic Progress, Righteousness, and The Kingdom of God
May 05, 2011
“…the contraception mentality is the single deepest issue facing Western society.” - Fr John Hardon, SJ - The title comes from a popular song, which is actually a quote from the bible: “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” If you will notice, the title should have been in the reverse i.e. God first and economic progress last. Unfortunately, these days the word: progress, has essentially become more material and self-centered than spiritual and other-centered. Progress has also become of paramount importance, not only in ... (read more)

6. How to Pray Effectively
April 20, 2011
Sometimes the ordinary things we do deserve a second look, like praying for example. As a child I used to pray before going to sleep or taking dinner. In both cases my prayers were intended for beings that were not really seen but believed to be in the heavens. I prayed that my guardian angel for example will always be at my side, and will guide and lead me from danger; I also prayed and asked the Lord to bless the food that gives me nourishment. As time goes by however, my prayers are becoming like empty rituals. I say or mumble words on different occasions without knowing the meanin... (read more)

7. The Conjugal Act and Intimacy
April 13, 2011
One of the major causes of marital break-ups in the US and probably elsewhere in the world has been conjugal infidelity. Intimacy can be among friends or between husbands and wives. It is actually a good word because it entails some degree of “closeness” or “nearness” on both the physical and emotional/intellectual/ spiritual levels. In other words, the closeness... (read more)
