Canaan ( Phoenician , Kana'n) is an ancient term for a region encompassing modern-day Israel and Lebanon, the Arab Palestinian Authority, plus adjoining coastal lands and parts of Jordan, Syria and northeastern Egypt. In the Hebrew Bible, the "Land of Canaan" extends from Lebanon southward across Gaza to the " Brook of Egypt" and eastward to the Jordan River Valley, thus including modern Israel and the area presently ruled by the Arab Palestinian Authority. In far ancient times, the southern area included various ethnic groups. The Amarna Letters found in Ancient Egypt mention Canaan ( Akkadian Kina??u) in connection with Gaza and other cities along the Phoenician coast and into Upper Galilee. Many earlier Egyptian sources also make mention of numerous military campaigns conducted in Ka-na-na, just inside Asia. Various Canaanite sites have been excavated by archaeologists. Canaanites spoke Canaanite languages, closely related to other West Semitic languages. Canaanites are mentioned in the Bible, Mesopotamian and Ancient Egyptian texts. Although the residents of ancient Ugarit in modern Syria do not seem to have considered themselves Canaanite, and did not speak a Canaanite language (but one that was closely related), archaeologists have considered the site, which was rediscovered in 1928, as quintessentially Canaanite.[1] Much of the modern knowledge about the Canaanites stems from excavation in this area. It is generally thought that they originally migrated from the Arabian Peninsula[2][3], as that is the most generally accepted Semitic urheimat. More recently Juris Zarins has suggested that Canaanite culture developed in situ from the Circum Arabian Nomadic Pastoral Complex, which in turn developed from a fusion of Harifian hunter gatherers with PPNB farming cultures, practicing animal domestication, during the 6,200 BC climatic crisis.[4] The name Canaan is mentioned frequently in the Bible. It refers to parts or all of the region between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea in antiquity[5] It is also sometimes used interchangeably with the Land of Israel, Zion, the Holy Land or the Promised Land.[citation needed] The English name Canaan comes from the Hebrew ????. Also the Greek ?a?a?? whence Latin Canaan. The Hebrew name Canaan is of obscure origins, with one possibility being the non-Semitic Hurrian "Knaa" or Akkadian Kinahhu, referring to the rich purple dye produced from the murex snail. The first known references appear in the 2nd millennium BCE, possibly from Hurrian sources in the Mesopotamian city of Nuzi.

3. Christian Wallet & Hindu Purse
July 23, 2008
When you walk down a busy street you will notice advertisements, businesses, street vendors, government buildings, non profits and such establishments. Camouflage noticeable but vastly increasing are the religious temples. There are so many, it seems we have become socially numb to the concept of religion. The U.S.A. is a great capitol of multiculturalism and belief. While this is great, have we become plagued with religious egocentrism? Religion like other businesses thrive on memberships, donations and various events that raise cash. Without your tithes and donations your church would b... (read more)

July 23, 2008
What affects your decision making? There is a beast walking amongst us all. Its not bigfoot, gargoyles or even the loch ness monster. This beast is an invisible parasite. It feeds off of joy and prosperity. If your not paying attention, it can attack you in a flash and before you know it everything is gone. You may even find yourself in arraignment if not cautious. The beast has lived for as long as humans have been able to survive and adapt. On the surface, some may say the beast is a part of survival. Ask a zoo keeper and they will tell you the lions just don't come in domesticated... (read more)

5. Stop accruing more debt and become debt free.
June 02, 2008
Debt has become a major issue for Americans. The national debt for the USA as of May 30th 2008 is $9,392,849,254,365.79, with 304,085,601 US citizens, on an average each citizen shares $30,888.83. That is astronomical. Over the last few decades most Americans have depended on credit cards to get what they want and now we depend on credit cards to get what we need.
Many families struggle to put dinner on the table due to outstanding credit card payments, mortgage payments, car notes, insurance premiums, school loans, and others; the list goes on. We have for too long depended on... (read more)

7. The Law of Attraction and the Science of Getting Rich - By Canaan Robinson
November 08, 2007
What are you thinking about right now? The Law of Attraction states that "whatever we think about, we bring about". This law may initially seem like new age fluff but believe it or not, there are scientific merits to this proposition. The top quantum physicists of our time have discovered that our universe and our reality is very much directed by the "observer". When studying quantum particles (the smallest observable unit of matter), these scientists discovered that such particles behave in accordance with the person conducting the experiment. It the scientists "predict" that quantum par... (read more)

9. Daily Surrender Psalms 106:37-38
August 25, 2006
August 18, 2006
Psalms 106:37-38 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
Why, why is it that man would rather yield to the burden of devils than to submit to the easy yoke of Yehovah? Why is it that when given wholesome spirituality, we hanker for the cesspool of superstition? Why is it that when we are given life, we snuff at it and choose death?
Do we think that our modern civilization is abo... (read more)

10. Daily Surrender Psalms 106:34
August 25, 2006
August 15, 2006
Psalms 106:34 They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
Israel was on a crusade. God sent them to Canaan for a reason far more important than to find a country to settle in. They were to conquer the Judean mountains and all the lands adjacent to them and make it God’s country. They were to make it a country where God’s Words and Spirit would flourish and be a testimony to the nations in the rest of the world. Israel was meant not to just conquer the land and settle, but they also were to destroy its inhabitants; in order to annihilate ... (read more)

11. Daily Surrender Psalms 106:9
August 01, 2006
July 28, 2006
Psalms 106:9 He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
When the children sat on the shore of Nuweibi beach on the Eastern arm of the red Sea, they were not going to the Promised Land. To go to Canaan from Goshen, they did not need to cross the sea. On their way to Sinai, in Arabia (Galatians 4:25), they were going to do what Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had to do before they could inherit the promises of God. The Children of Israel were coming out their familiar world and surroundings, to go to a place wh... (read more)

12. Mixed with Faith
October 21, 2005
When the Word of God is not mixed with faith, it will not profit you! Hebrews 4:2. This can be proven in scripture in two recorded events.
The land of Canaan was set aside by God for His chosen people, the nation of Israel. Moses sent out spies to check out the land. (Numbers 13) Caleb spoke in verse 30 with the eyes of faith. Let me explain my statement. With the natural eye, Caleb saw the Hittites, the Jebusites and the Amorites. It was his spiritual eye that saw conquest and victory. So then he was able to say that they were well able to go in and possess it.
Then there i... (read more)

13. WHOSE LAND?
June 07, 2005
It is interesting that everyone is so hung-up on the debate regarding who has official rights to The Land known historically as “The Land of Canaan.”
If we go back far enough, we discover the near Middle East was settled by descendants of Canaan, thus the region was referred to as "The Land of Canaan." Abraham was not of the line of Canaan. How was it then, that Abraham was given the Everlasting Covenant of the Land?
Who was Abraham? Was he an Arab, or was he a Jew? Actually, neither! Abraham arose from the ethnic background of the Chaldeans, arising out of ancient Sumer, desc... (read more)
