Apium graveolens is a plant species in the family Apiaceae, and yields two important vegetables known as celery and celeriac. Cultivars of the species have been used for centuries, whilst others have been domesticated only in the last 200-300 years. [1] The petiole is the part consumed. Celery was officially described by Carolus Linnaeus in Volume One of his Species Plantarum in 1753.[2] The closely related Apium bermejoi from the island of Minorca is one of the rarest plants in Europe with only 60 individuals left. In temperate countries, celery is also grown for its seeds, which yield a valuable volatile oil used in the perfume and pharmaceutical industries. Celery seeds can be used as flavouring or spice either as whole seeds or, ground and mixed with salt, as celery salt. Celery salt can also be made from an extract of the roots. Celery Salt is used as a seasoning, in cocktails (notably to enhance the flavour of Bloody Mary cocktails), on the Chicago-style hot dog, and in Old Bay Seasoning.

August 10, 2008
Drinking a daily vitamin packed drink of your choice that includes romaine lettuce, celery, stalks kale, apples, lemon, and fresh ginger (or make your own drink)
To eat healthy we need to eat daily one pound of raw vegetables for each 50 pounds of body weight. By juicing this amount, it is very easy to get 50% of your body weight’s requirement of raw vegetables. Raw food is important to our body because when it is consumed, it does not raise our white blood cells like cooked food does. It did not change when raw foods or low temperature cooked foods were consumed.

10. Cabbage Soup Diet Weight Loss That Really Works So Fast
December 03, 2007
On the top of the list of quick-fix fad diets is the cabbage soup diet weight loss. It should not be followed as a long-term eating plan, as it is dangerously low in calories and could do more harm than good.
The Cabbage Soup Diet offers fast weight loss, but it is completely lacking in nutrition, flavor and variety. You'll consume mostly soups of cabbage, onion, celery, carrots, tomatoes and mushrooms. Nutritionists argue that the pounds shed are more likely attributed to the dramatic and dangerous loss in calories and not the proposed fat-burning power found in the cabbage. This diet d... 12. Celery Cures Gout ? It May Reduce Pain, Lower Blood Pressure, And Be A Gout Remedy
November 17, 2007
Both celery stalks and seeds are touted as gout remedies for reducing uric acid levels, reducing pain, and as a diuretic to lower blood pressure. How can the humble celery stalk, or extracts of its seeds, be so helpful? Gout cures require the reduction of uric acid levels. The usual clinical target is a serum (blood) level of 6 mg/dL. Reducing uric acid levels often dissolves the MSU crystals which are mainly formed from uric acid. The immune system's reaction to these crystals is the immediate cause of pain and inflammation. Drugs such as Allopurinol are xanthine oxidase inhibitors - it ... (read more)

The common in sink garbage disposal is an appliance that is easy to take for granted. At least until it clogs. This will not be a common problem if you use a little common sense. 24. Leadership Lessons from the Back of the Fridge
November 01, 2006
I suspect in the back of most refrigerators there is something that shouldn’t be there. You know what I mean – something that is moldy, spoiled or rotten. It might be drooping celery, hamburgers with a white beard or leftovers that are no longer edible.
We all have had the experience of going to the refrigerator and finding something that we knew clearly that no one would ever eat. However, our guilty conscience would not let us throw it out. It’s not yet spoiled enough to throw out, it’s still good food. So we put it back in the fridge until it sits around and gets spoiled enoug... (read more)
