Win Worley, Pioneer in Exorcism

Christianity,Spiritual,Advice
by Frederick Hoehn, copyright 2012.

Win Worley was pastor of the Hegewisch Baptist Church in Highland, IN. (near Hammond, IN) But I think he was from Texas. Perhaps near Mesquite, TX.

He and his wife prayed and asked the Lord to just use them however He chose. The Lord led them into a deliverance ministry, that is, the casting out of demons (exorcism).

I’m aware there was a movie about exorcism, or perhaps several. But I deliberately stay away from commercial movies on the subject because I’m sure they’re not made with diligence regarding correct theology, but rather, screenwriters take liberties to try to present what would sell the most tickets. Why worry about accurate theology? (And the answer to that is “because God punishes liars in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone.”) (Revelation 21:8)

So Win Worley proceeded to cast out a lot of demons from people, and wrote books about it, and held seminars at their church there, and in one or more other cities, such as Houston, TX at that church on Satsuma St., I think it was.

Worley wrote books like “Battling the Hosts of Hell, Conquering the Hosts of Hell, Demolishing the Hosts of Hell, Abolishing the Hosts of Hell.”

I was in Houston when a lady I’d met at a prayer meeting told me about three days of meetings in Houston with Win Worley. There was a bit of a conflict with the schedule ‘cause I was working 2nd shift at the time. But I finally made it to the third night’s meeting.

Worley said, “At our church in Indiana, we cast a lot of demons out of people, and most of the people we cast demons out of are Christians.”

I said to myself, “What? I never heard that before.” (And I’d already been a Christian for about three and a half decades.) I had grown up in an Assembly of God church in California, sometimes also visiting a Foursquare church. I’d never heard any pastor, or evangelist, or teacher say that Christians can have demons. And that Assembly of God denomination is supposed to be full-gospel, Pentecostal, Charismatic.

One definition of the word charismatic is, if someone’s charismatic, he’s a good speaker, and by what he says, attractive to the audience.

No, I mean the other definition of charismatic, meaning tongue-talking, baptized with the Holy Ghost, speaks in unknown tongues. The unknown tongue (or, language) is unknown to the person speaking it, whether or not someone hearing might understand.

How can a person speak in a language he doesn’t understand? Because, after Jesus baptizes with the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost provides the words for that Christian to speak. Jesus won’t baptize anyone with the Holy Ghost if they’re not a Christian.

Well yes, the AOG did have the unknown tongues, and I got the Baptism with the Holy Ghost from the Lord when I was a teenager. But I never saw a demon cast out of anyone at an Assembly of God church. I’m sure they would say they believe in that, since it’s certainly scriptural to do so, but why then has it not been visible in AOG churches that I’ve gone to over decades of years?

Is it because they did really have the fire when they started a century ago, but then cooled down to lukewarm as time went by? (See Rev. 3:16)

I’ve been a student of Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin by hearing him teach in meetings, reading his books, listening to his tapes. He’s one of the best Bible teachers I’ve found, but I don’t remember his ever saying that Christians can have demons.

I didn’t necessarily buy it just because Worley had said Christians can have demons. A preacher might have some bad theology.

Buck and Gladys Hammond were present at those Worley meetings. They had an audio cassette tape ministry, and had recorded the teaching, and made duplicate tapes available at a very reasonable price.

So I bought some Worley tapes and listened. The guy was giving scripture for what he was saying. Jesus basically said, “You’re either with me or against me.” It was clear Worley was for Jesus and against the devil.

And he was right. A Christian can have one or more demons, and if a Christian does, he should cast out those demons, as per Luke 10:19 and Mark chapter 16.

Thank God for that Hammond’s tape ministry, and for Pastor Win Worley and his wife.

Another Christian man said that as he was listening to some Win Worley tapes, he nearly killed himself while listening. (I’m sure he meant accidentally. Perhaps he was driving at the time.) The tapes were quite absorbing.

I know exactly what he meant, I got a traffic citation while driving and listening to the tapes for exceeding the speed limit. It was powerful stuff. Probably better to listen to Worley recordings at home.

When the Worleys first started casting out demons, I understand they had not been baptized with the Holy Ghost. But they found that after they did get baptized with the Holy Ghost with the speaking in unknown tongues, they had more power in casting out demons. (See Acts 1:8)

They also found that there was an advantage in the ladies of the church wearing a head covering, and if nothing else, just a facial tissue on their heads, during the casting out of demons. (See 1 Cor 11:5)

But Jesus did say that some demons don’t go out without prayer and fasting. (Matt 17:21)

Lester Sumrall prayed and fasted before that famous exorcism he did in the Philippines, described in his book, “Demons, the Answer Book.” If you find that book, pay special attention to the chapter titled, “Bitten by demons.” The woman had fang marks in her arm from being bitten by a demon. Sumrall cast the demons out of her. It was a national news story at the time in the Philippines, and there was rejoicing.

Worley compiled a list of some 1,100 names of demons. I’m not sure that’s necessary. I believe the Holy Ghost (or, Holy Spirit) guides Christians who cast out demons. Don’t ever try to cast out demons if you’re not a Christian. You could get hurt like the seven sons of Sceva in the book of Acts. They were Jewish, but not Christians, and got beaten up by the demon-possessed man.

Another name for Jews who are Christians is “Messianic Jews,” or, you might say, “Fulfilled Jews.” Jews who are not Messianic Jews are still looking for the Messiah (the savior) to come, and are unaware that he has already come, and that his name is Jesus.

The Jews will find a counterfeit messiah in the “Antichrist,” also called “The Beast.” (See the books of Daniel and Revelation in the Bible.)

That was a very important lesson that I learned from Win Worley. Thank God for his ministry.

But Worley died unnecessarily prematurely, I believe. Perhaps he was in his fifties, or perhaps early sixties.

Worley decided to go on a long fast, and stopped eating. He developed medical complications and died. This matter was more difficult due to the fact that Worley was obese.

When Jesus cast the demons out of the Gadarene demoniac, he asked, “What is your name.” One of the demons answered, using the man’s voice, “My name is legion, for we are many.” I understand a legion could be two thousand or more.

When casting out demons, it is sometimes appropriate to ask, “What is your name?,” or, “How many of you are there?”

But I believe it’s a mistake to go further into conversation with demons, and Win Worley did get into conversation with demons, unwisely I believe.

There was some discussion between Worley and a demon about “Faith Preachers.”

I’ve heard Worley speak a bit scornfully about “Faith Preachers.” Perhaps Worley thought he was somewhat more advanced than Faith Preachers.

But I’ve been a student of Faith Preachers such as Kenneth E. Hagin and Norvel Hayes and Charles Capps. (www.Rhema.org, www.nhm.cc, www.CharlesCapps.com) Hayes had been a student of Lester Sumrall. Sumrall founded LESEA Broadcasting, and Lester Sumrall Evangelistic Association (LESEA).

In Hosea 4:6, God says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

I believe if Worley had known more of what some of those faith preachers taught, that knowledge could easily have prevented his premature death. Knowledge, for example, about speaking things into existence, about binding and loosing, about ignoring the contradictory circumstances, about worshiping the Lord for healing, about claiming our needs to be met, the daily quoting out loud or reading out loud of promises to God’s people from his book, the Holy bible, and the application of Mark 11:23,24.

Dr. Norvel Hayes said the Lord told him, “If there’s anyone out there with anything wrong with their bodies, they’re not worshiping me enough.” Yes, I believe the Lord said that.

A good book about Christians speaking things into existence is, “God’s Creative Power Will Work for You,” by Charles Capps. Capps said the Lord told him, “I’ve told my people they can have what they say, but instead, they are saying what they have.” (Mark 11:23)

I heard a young man say, “I don’t read other books, I just get my teaching from the Bible.” But then why did God give us teachers? (Eph 4:11)

And there’s a scripture, “Cast out the scorner.” (Prov. 22:10) Sometimes one preacher can be scornful of another preacher. Worley may have paid a price for that mistake.

Another mistake he made is to teach people to return curses to the sender, but Jesus said, “…bless those who curse you…”. (Matt 5:44) Therefore, a better strategy would be to say out loud, “I break every curse, hex, vex, spell, love potion, etc. that’s come my way, and bless the sender, in Jesus’ name.” You have the right to use Jesus’ name if you’re a Christian.

Of course, there are some people who’ve been in the ministry and did a very poor job. I don’t say we shouldn’t be critical of rotten apples.

I look forward to shaking Win Worley’s hand when I get to heaven, since I am also one of those whose name is written in the “Lamb’s Book of Life.” (Rev. 13:8) Is your name in that book, my friend?

Bottom line: If one is not casting out demons then one is not on Jesus' side. I would never read Charles Capps books again, ever! I'm old enough to remember Kenneth Hagin. You can't hold back the entire gospel of Christ and that is what he, K Copeland, and all the rest of them did. I heard all of them for YEARS and followed them. MY LIFE NEVER CHANGED. NEVER. It wasn't until 20 years later that I went to a Bob Larson meeting and was picked out of the audience and delivered from a huge Jezebel demon and 6 other spirits. My LIFE WAS CHANGED. But it was up to me to stay with it and I walked an incredibly rocky path for the next 20 years. THEN I found out about Win Worley. He was not afraid to preach the truth. He may have had a problem with food and how I regret not getting to know his teachings while he was alive. So anyone who wants to diss W Worley go ahead, the devil is using you too! And if you have no discernment that's the way it goes. We need to embrace Worley's teachings . He probably DID talk to demons! And I know from Bob Larson that the demons talked to him. People don't want to believe the supernatural unless it fits their idea of what that means. Most people don't read so we are all dealing with ignorant people. Anyway! GOD BLESS ALL.

Satan doesn’t want people to know that deliverance even exists. His minions (for example through freemasonry) were called to kill Win. He talked about this in one of the recordings available on youtube, where he spoke with an ex freemason, who had Win on his hit list as the number 1 target.

Win’s doctrine is true. And its not similar to any of the lazy “touch and go boys” he mentioned. Like Kenneth E. Hagin, who used not the spirit of God but the kundalini spirit. Its a snake spirit from earstern religions. Look it up yourself. The spirit of God is the spirit of self control.

However he did indeed encourage christians to send the curses back to the sender. Its scriptural but its not what Jesus thinks about it. Win was not perfect. But i believe he was a man of God, working with the Holy Spirit.

About faith preachers one more thing: check out Todd White. He told this false doctrine that everyone is healed because Christ. He falsely used the scripture in isaiah that mentions “with his stripes we are healed”. But it mainly talks about sin. And we can be delivered from sicknesses, but we don’t get it freely, because you say so, or because you repeat certain scriptures daily and say them out loud. Scripture will not work this way ust because you were told to use it as spells for witchcraft. Its basically witchcraft. The illusion of using God’s power for your own benefit. If Jesus had commanded the stone to turn to bread, he would have done the same thing and satan could have beaten him. But he didn’t do that :)

Todd White is getting his well deserved shame: he’s on a 90 day sick leave now, look it up! Thats how God shows true doctrine and shows how false doctrines operate. Win was completely right about faith preachers and prosperity preachers. I don’t know about his death but i’m sure he’s smiling from up there, as he sees how much we profit from his hard labor.

Ps: yesterday i fought with leviathan. It took 1-1,5 hours to get it going, but most of it is gone now. If you use what Worley told us about that demon of pride, you can get it off of you.

To friends who might look back on this or in the future, I’d like to provide you with an example of what I believe is correct biblical teaching about deliverance. Please look up the teachings of David Middleton (Tree Of Life). He has YouTube channels under both these names. He has many, many teachings (not just on deliverance). He also uses many, many Bible verses (which you can follow along with in your Bible or watch because he shows them AS he teaches). He is not the type of pastor to preach AT you, nor does he raise his voice in anger at his congregation (into my second video of Mr. Worley I had to turn it off). Mr. Middleton teaches from the standards and examples set by Jesus (whom we’re supposed to not only follow but do as He did) from the New Testament, BUT without throwing out the Old Testament. He uses both the Old and New Testament together without going into legalism or hyper-grace. You might be reading this because of an interest or curiosity about deliverance and there is plenty to find out there, but some (most) might be more harmful than helpful. After you listen/watch David Middleton you might not only discover that deliverance is a normal part of the Christian life, but you might also develop a real, true, loving relationship with the God of the scriptures. David is also a very ‘balanced’ teacher in that he teaches on a widely varied number of subjects. I actually haven’t found anything I’ve wanted to know or know more about that he hasn’t taught on. Most pastors go as far a 2-3 subjects that people are seeking and want to believe and that’s it. It’s usually healing or deliverance or grace/faith or the book of the law or a combination of for or against a couple of those. You won’t find that with David Middleton.

- If you’re interested he also has a church with live- streaming on YouTube and his website. www.doersoftheword..org/index.html 1-602-279-5212 or toll free at 1-877-773-6377 - He is pastor of JESUS IS LORD Outreach Center in Phoenix, Arizona. - Service times are Sunday morning 10:00, Sunday evenings 6:30pm, and Wednesday 7:00 pm (Phoenix, AZ time) - He has prayer meetings on Thursday and deliverance on Saturday (in person).

Hope this is a blessing to someone.

Win Worleys books are true. I recently been through self deliverance and read his books that actually matched up to my deliverance experiences. I recommend you buying all of his books as well as John Ramirezs books. I saw for my self that God can recreate my insides from an operation that I thought went wrong but it was a spiritual problem and needed more self deliverance. Like his book battling the hosts of hell of some 19 year old Catholic boy who had a hernia repair and got healed. Mine was a left verocelle repair about the same thing if it was not for his book. I would not have known that it happened to someone else as well. And believe that I will get healed from that information as well that God showed me for my self after dying and recreating my heart and now is going to recreate my other parts as well. This is from Michael Shcheglyuk the guy that made fire come out of heaven and the beast what the Bible states. Also the book of Daniel chapter 11 :36-and on. And Thessalonians chapter 2. Which I did all in 2015 and got tortured and killed but God brought me back to life twice. Their is a God. And this guys books will be the famous in history. Because they work and are true. He tortured the demons and evil spirits to get information about how they worked to help us. If we didn't know anything about the enemy how would Christians be able to fight against his kingdoms. I saw some of this for my self when I got possessed.

I went to Win's church growing. It was a false doctrine and messed up a lot of people's lives. His private life was ungodly. It has taken me many years to straighten out my spiritual life from the damage done at that church all these years. He destroyed the lives of many people. Please don't listen to his teachings or his videos or his books. I beg you. Read the word of God and listen to the voice of Jesus your shepherd. He is faithful and He will guide you in the paths of righteousness to His glory.

I just started watching Pastor Win and I am happy I did. don't know how I got him but I don't believe in coincidences. I believe he is right on the money. His teaching is right on the money something I have been looking for all my life, I was into the faith preachers but left because I felt I was using Jesus' name as mantra and I was very uncomfortable with it. I now know it was the HS protecting me from all of that. I read a book by Hunt it was called the seduction of Christianity. That turned me on to wanting to know Jesus more and turned me off from these other guys, I am now studying about loosing and binding I really think that learning about it will help us fight the evil one. It is a powerful weapon we have in our hands and I want to be part of having all the power that Jesus said we can have to defeat the evil one and his demons. We are in the end times and we need more teaching on deliverance. Preachers aren't taught in seminary, they don't preach it from the pulpit and people get freaked out when Satan is mentioned. He did (Satan) has done a good job hiding the truth from us. I just hope and pray that enough Christians wake up and ask the HS or guidance. This is one person who is not going down without a fight. Thanks for reading this. Have a blessed day.

Thanks for the article. I feel that you have some sound reasoning with some very useful scripture backup. Blessings.

Hello: I listen to Win Worley's sermons and really enjoy his message. He interesting and has a great sense of humor. I have learned a great deal from his ministry and mostly about deliverance. I thank the Lord Jesus for it as I see that church still exists and follows in the same way when Mr. Worley was in leadership there. Praise the Lord!
