Autochthonous Croat minorities exist in or among The population estimates are reasonably accurate domestically around four million in Croatia and nearly 600,000 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, or 15% of the total population. A large number of Croats were forced over the course of the time for economic or political reasons to leave their traditional homeland, thus today there exists quite a large Croat diaspora outside of their traditional homeland of the Balkans.
