Over the years there have been many hotspots for Bike Week and Biketoberfest. Where do you go and what's got the best deals, who hangs out where and whatnot. It's always been the same tried and true places with little change, just haphazard and luck. Bike Week is Bike Week. You go down to Oceanwalk and check out the bars for an ocean view or stroll down to Main Street. Over the years this has been changing. BRUCE ROSSMEYER'S built Destination Daytona when the city began to turn it's nose up to the bikers. Since then there was a migration to US1 in Ormond, but where was the beach. Bike Bars galore, but no beach, so loyalists started strolling back to Daytona and hitting the beachfront bars. Always looking for something new it seems the bikers even got tired of that. You can't ride freely with the traffic and a ton of tickets being written. Where to go. There's nothing new, till this year. What happened this year? Ormond Beach-side is where it's going on and it seems to be one place that is a real hit that's growing in popularity. Dimitri's Bar Deck and Grill in Ormond Beach seems to be the new place to go for Race Car Teams and drivers and Magazine people. Nothing has really changed here in Ormond in nearly a decade, so what is the big buzz over Dimitri's Bar Deck and Grill??? THE DECK!!! Dimirti's Bar Deck and Grill features the only beach-side deck that has a clear view of the ocean and sits right on A1A right across from the Andy Romano Park in Ormond Beach. Spring Breakers, Bikers and families from the park swarmed to the deck this weekend for the most fantastic view you will get from any bar in Ormond Beach. With the beautiful new Andy Romano park freshly open and the Atlantic at your feet you just can't ask for a more perfect view or a more perfect place to have lunch, dinner or cocktails. The sunsets are in view as the deck has a nearly unobstructed view in every direction. The aesthetics is not where it ends either. Dimitri's Bar Deck and Grill has unveiled a new menu this year. With his already world famous Gyros Dimitris has added Tiger Shrimp Gyros and Soft Shell Crab Gyros. Dimitri's Artisan Sandwiches has been a staple in this area for years and are the best sandwiches you will find in Ormond Beach, bar none, no pun intended. So after a quick lunch it's time to go right? No, Dimitri's food is so good they had several repeat customers for dinner. For round two people are returning for oysters and clams, incredible pasta dishes. Just too much good food to chose from. Chicken Skewers, Lamb Shank, and the freshest seafood in town. You have to see it to believe it. You can sit down and listen to people talk about returning to their old haunts, some only doors away and in view of the deck, and saying they have a new place. Can you blame them? In a town filled with production-line mass produced food or fried everything and virtually the same seasoning as everywhere in the country why go anywhere else? Dimitri's breads his own seafood on site. They make their sauces on site with the exception of their Sweet Baby Rays Sandwich special. This is the freshest and most flavorful food you will get this Bike Week. If Bike Week to you is burgers and fries for a solid week, they have that too. You can have a burger and watch the bikes as they roll down A1A and have a beer watching the sunset, but at Dimitri's a burger is just one choice. Nowhere else will you have such a view, maybe of a parking-lot. If you are looking for the new place to go in Ormond Beach for the Daytona Bike Week, this is it. It was full and happening, but not overpoweringly crowded. The deck is massive and the bartenders and waitstaff friendly. There's no need to settle for what was. Ormond has a new hot spot and a new bar and according to Circle Track Magazine and hundreds of happy bikers it's Dimitri's Bar Deck and Grill. Go check it out and say hello to Dimitri while you're there.
