Data integrity is a term used in computer science and telecommunications that can mean ensuring data is "whole" or complete, the condition in which data is identically maintained during any operation (such as transfer, storage or retrieval), the preservation of data for their intended use, or, relative to specified operations, the a priori expectation of data quality. Put simply, data integrity is the assurance that data is consistent and correct. Often such integrity is ensured by use of a number referred to as a Message Integrity Code (MIC) or Message Authentication Code (MAC). In cryptography and information security in general, integrity refers to the validity of data. Integrity can be compromised through In terms of a database data integrity refers to the process of ensuring that a database remains an accurate reflection of the universe of discourse it is modelling or representing. In other words there is a close correspondence between the facts stored in the database and the real world it models [1].

1. Hard Detach May Cause Data Loss on External Hard Drive
November 04, 2009
For integrity and safety of your data on external/removable hard drive, you should remove the hard drive properly. If you do “hot detach” of a removable hard drive from MS Windows Vista computer, the drive may not work properly next time when you try access data from it. At the same time, you may see some warning events in system log. This behavior renders all of your critical data inaccessible and cause serious data loss. In order to retrieve lost data in such circumstances, you need to go for hard drive recovery to get your valuable data back.
In a practical scenario, you may find the ... (read more)

November 02, 2009
ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning is a term used in conjunction with Enterprise Resource Planning software which is designed to manage all the functions and information of a company or business from shared data stores. An Enterprise Resource Planning system has modular software and hardware services and units that communicate on a LAN. The modular plan enables a business to reconfigure or add modules (maybe from various vendors) while maintaining data integrity in 1 shared database that can be distributed or centralized. Summary of ERP solutions Some organizations, usually those with eno... (read more)

3. Interrupted fsck Operation Causes Data Loss in Linux
October 26, 2009
In Linux operating system, fsck is a useful utility that helps you to check file system integrity and fix the errors. It is helpful particularly in case of file system corruption, dirty system shutdown and operating system related issues. When improper system shutdown happens, fsck runs when you reboot the system and check file system integrity. But if fsck process gets terminated due to improper system shutdown or power failure, you might come across serious data loss issues. In such circumstances, you are required to opt for effective and powerful Linux Data Recovery solutions.

7. Performance Audits Ensure Database Integrity via XML Info-Flow Model
October 19, 2009
Data integrity becomes a crucial factor when complex activities in medical, military and industrial systems are dependent on the accurate performance of software fed by a database. Continuous verification through automated channels controlled by a separate database is the key component to performance audits success.
The second database employed as the verifier is populated with the original design requirements and development test results. This insures that the original project test-results are fixed and remain programmatically accessible to be used as a matrix-monitor of guide-marks dur... (read more)

9. Auto Hard Drive Checking in Windows Indicates File System Corruption
October 16, 2009
In Microsoft Windows operating system, you can check the integrity of your hard drive using two powerful disk repair utilities called Autochk.exe and Chkdsk.exe. If your system experience improper shutdown due to power failure or system crash, these utilities run automatically at startup and possibly fix the problem. If these tools run every time when you start the system or runs while working on the system, it might be facing some critical file system or system file corruption problems. These circumstances cause serious data loss and require Hard Drive Recovery to be sorted out.

10. Data Integrity
October 14, 2009
Database. For example, if a product is entered with a Product_ID value of 25 in a table named Products, the database should not allow another product to have an ID with the same value. Furthermore, if there is a column named Product_Rating that is intended to have values ranging from 1 to 10, the database should not accept a value below 1 and above 10 for this column. This can be accomplished by using the methods supported by SQL Server to enforce the integrity of the data.
SQL Server supports a number of methods that can be used to enforce data integrity. These methods include defining d... (read more)

In computer world, security is an important aspect to consider when dealing with any computer related task. Generally speaking, Security can be divided into two broad categories: System security and network security. System security means to protect the data residing on your computers from any external threats such as viruses, worms, and any hackers. This protection can be done by any anti-virus software or firewalls. This will be of course very important to enterprise servers which store important data for the company. On the other hand, network security refers to protecting ... (read more)

13. Transaction Log File Integrity Check Failure May Cause EDB Corruption
October 02, 2009
In an EDB (Exchange Server Database) file, the transaction log is s history of activities, executed by the Exchange Server to guarantee the ACID properties over hardware failure or system crash. There are mainly helpful in aces of improper system shutdown to rollback the incomplete transaction and to recover the system from inconsistent state. But in some situations, the transaction log itself might get damaged and put your database in an inconsistent or damaged state. These situations cause critical data loss and require EDB Repair to be sorted out.
