Ecommerce Benefits in Global Trade empowering artisans

E-Commerce,Small Business,Website Promotion
The prospect for global trade of Nepali commodities has been made possible due to Nepal’s accession into WTO. Despite of this good opportunity, many Nepali Handicraft entrepreneurs are still in vulnerable position. In such a plight, an effort should be made to improve international, regional as well as domestic trade with the use of technologies such as e-commerce. Electronic commerce, or Ecommerce is an important in the commercial market nowadays. More and more it is becoming an integral part for the best promotion of business for any Micro, small-to-medium enterprises (MSMEs). With just a few clicks in minutes, a transaction or an order can be placed and finished via the internet with ease. For instance, an online business deal can be completed through the Internet within a few minutes compared to the traditional method which may take up to hours. This fact clearly proves that Ecommerce is advantageous to both business and consumer wise as payment and documentations can be completed with greater effectiveness. From the business viewpoint also, Ecommerce is much more cost effective. Micro and Small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) including handicraft producers can vehemently benefit from the exciting opportunities offered by e-commerce. In the past, it has been difficult and expensive for most producers and MSMEs to undertake ecommerce simply due to cost, lack of adequate knowledge and complexity involved in adopting appropriate ecommerce system. Ecommerce needs proper promotion and adequate efforts to reach out the target groups otherwise, the website will remain lost in the cyberspace. Well, since last few years Third World Craft Nepal(TWCN) is regularly conducting awareness and skill training events on use of Internet and ecommerce. With the use of system called OpenEntry ( www.openentry.com) TWCN enables any MSMES set up their full serviceable e-commerce within 30 minutes . Why to use OpenEntry OpenEntry system is the latest free tools built on web 2 based using Google app engine. It provides free e-commerce catalogs (software, hosting, and user support) to MSMEs worldwide. OpenEntry catalogs are permanent. It’s award winning platform provides a complete e-commerce solution including software, hosting, and User Support with choice of customizable templates and worldwide credit card capability. With OpenEntry, MSMEs will also be able to manage their on-line catalogs via Internet enabled "smart phones". The real power of the OpenEntry system lies in its capability to build a “Internet Marketplace (Network Market)” that amasses many individual vendor catalogs on OpenEntry system. This system enables MSME networks (such as chambers of commerce, trade promotion organizations, or industry associations) to aggregate their members' catalogs (even those created with another system) into powerful on- line "network markets" (sometimes called "cluster marketplaces") capable of generating the visibility and credibility necessary for global e-commerce. OpenEntry in Nepal Hundreds of SMEs are benefiting from OpenEntry tools. With the viewpoint to promote Nepali Handicrafts products, Third World Craft Nepal is promoting the producers to help them become independent entrepreneurs. Third World Craft Nepal is a platform which offers marketplace to sell Nepali products via its online store . TWCN is a founder member of Artisan Fair Trade Network Nepal, Green America, USA and also a member of Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal.
