Like many of the natural sciences, however, a conceptual understanding of ecology is found in the broader details of study, including Ecology is concerned with the web or network of relations among organisms at different scales of organization. Ecology is also distinguished from natural history, which deals primarily with the descriptive study of organisms. Ecologists are scientists that study ecosystems. Ecosystems are real places (a pond, field, forest, etc.) or they can be conceptually abstract schemes showing the direction and quantified amounts of energy and resources flowing through a system or network of relations.[4][5] Ecology has many practical applications in conservation biology, wetland management, natural resource management (agriculture, forestry , fisheries), city planning (urban ecology), community health, economics, basic & applied science and it provides a conceptual framework for understanding and researching human social interaction (human ecology).[6][7][8][9] Ecosystems also provide a host of goods and services often without market value[10]. November 02, 2009
Costa Rica is sometimes called "The Switzerland of Central America," certainly because of the magnificent mountains and scenery each possesses. Undoubtedly, the comparison is meant to be flattering to the little Central America country but Switzerland and all of Mother Earth would be better off if it were called "The Costa Rica of Europe," at least in terms of ecology and emphasis on preserving animal life.
There was a time, long, long ago, when both nations had abundant wildlife. Switzerland had bears, wolves, lynx, chamois, and deer but the predators were killed off hundreds of years... (read more)

He is calling around the country looking for that 1-1/2" insulation - and to Canada! He's found a plumber willing to install it for a higher price. Do you have any studies that compare 1/2" insulation on copper pipes ve... (read more)

October 08, 2009
Saving water and saving energy in a residential home setting, is largely a behavioral problem. If you observe how people use their water for instance, you can spot wasteful behaviors all over the place.
