Eurasia is a large landmass covering about 52,990,000 km 2 (20,846,000 mi 2) or about 10.6% of the Earth's surface (36.2% of the land area). Often considered a single continent, [1] Eurasia comprises the traditional continents of Europe and Asia (and Eurasia is a portmanteau of the two), concepts which date back to classical antiquity and the borders for which are somewhat arbitrary. Eurasia, in turn, is part of the yet larger landmass of Afro-Eurasia, whereby Eurasia is joined to Africa at the Isthmus of Suez. Eurasia is inhabited by almost 4.8 billion people, more than 71% of the world's population. Jared Diamond, in his book Guns, Germs and Steel, credits Eurasia's dominance in world history to the east-west extent of Eurasia and its climate zones, and the availability of Eurasian animals and plants suitable for domestication. He sometimes includes North Africa in his definition of Eurasia. The Silk Road symbolizes trade and cultural exchange linking Eurasian cultures through history and has been an increasingly popular topic. Over recent decades the idea of a greater Eurasian history has developed with the aim of investigating the genetic, cultural and linguistic relationships between European and Asian cultures of antiquity. These had long been considered distinct.

2. Your OldTattoo Can Be Erased By A Cosmetic Surgeon
September 10, 2009
The practice of cutting designs into skin is an ancient one. Sometimes a tattoo would mark a rite of passage, or make a tribe look more intimidating to their enemies during battle. There is evidence that goes back to the New Stone Age in Eurasia which is way back around 9500 BC. At first ashes were rubbed into the freshly cut design, but over the years color began to enhance the look. When healing of the wound was complete, the pattern was permanent.
As years passed tattoos spread to the west, where sailors discovered them on voyages to Polynesia. Deducing that tattoos would be an ideal w... (read more)

Do you know all the oceans and continents in the world? I'm sure you would recall them if you saw a map of seven continents and oceans, but if you happen to be like everyone else you might be able to name the continents but not all the oceans. There are generally considered to be 7 continents. But the continents we identify are not chosen based on exact criteria, but rather by historical definitions. For example, Asia and Europe are part of the same singular land mass called Eurasia. But they are generally considered separate continents because of cultural and historical reasons. There are 7 c... Morocco has a history as substantial as any in Africa, Eurasia, or the Americas. In some parts of the world when man was first learning that stone made better tools than twigs, the Moroccan mountains and interior was populated with Libyan and Ethiopian settlers named Barbaroi. September 01, 2005
In the wake of supply disruptions caused by Hurricane Katrina, gasoline prices in the United States have soared by as much as 40 percent this week and have prompted worries of both increased inflation and economic slowdown.
Energy economist Antoine Halff of the Eurasia Group in New York says Hurricane Katrina is triggering an oil price shock not unlike those of the early and late 1970s. Those earlier supply shocks were characterized by shortages, long lines to buy gasoline, and sharp price increases.
