6863 Lego Batwing Battle over Gotham This mid range Lego Superheroes action set contains the following: • Batman, The Joker and henchman Minifigures • The Joker’s helicopter, with 4 flick missiles, rope ladder and toxic laughing gas bomb function • The Batwing, with twin flick missiles and droppable bomb 278 pieces, take from 1989 Batman Film where the Joker is trying to gas the whole of Gotham City with Laughing gas. Joker’s Helicopter Small and neat, this helicopter has a flexible ladder for the Joker to hang off. I have not seen this with Lego before and it works really well. On each wingit has 2 neat flick missiles that are both accessible and easy to aim. The front of the helicopter has a laughing face emblem that turns into a laughing gas bomb by pressing a button at the rear. The bomb then falls away. The henchman pilot has a number of controls and a dash board, these are rather simple when compared to sets such as the Lego Quinjet but work fine. The main rotor turns freely and can swivel upwards for stowage. The tailplane has a large Joker emblem and a little tail rotor. Batwing The batwing is great and comes with some eye catching batman logos. The twin wings fold from an X to a flat, more traditional position. When the wings are folded up you can fire the flick missiles. Towards the rear is the batmissile, to launch it you must raise a hatch on the top and hit a small button. This causes the missile to be released. It is possible to do this while playing with the model but it is a little fiddly. The missile itself is bat shaped and looks really cool. Overall the model has a very sleek and pleasing appearance. Both the aircraft are straightforward enough to cause a 6 year old no problem in construction and are great for play. Minifigures You get the Joker and a neat henchman to fly the helicopter and off course batman in light blue Verdict: The Lego Batwing Battle over Gotham City is good value for and well worth the price. But this is maybe not the best Lego Batman Superheroes set, it is perhaps not as good as the Fun house set or the Batman Batcave and falls in between being cheap and having a few vehicles and being expensive and having loads of functions. For this reason it will maybe not engage older kids as much as younger ones. The really cool thing in this set is the Batwing and Black Batman, they are both great and very stylish It comes with a comic book that has no real dialogue and is very short. Although I guess you would not get the set for it. This does not really add much to the overall set.
