It is crucial for us to seek development in all things around us. Even in ourselves there should be an effort in striving for betterment. Our environment should also be given priority in our quest for improvement for it is quickly deteriorating. Come to think of it, if we lose our environment we also lose our lives. Particularly in our energy source, we should look for better alternatives in order for us to save our nature. For the past century, we were solely dependent in fossil fuels. These black golds are harvested under the sands of the Middle East and are shipped to be refined in the West. Though it is able to suffice our needs, it will eventually deplete theoretically in the next fifty years. Not to mention its devastating effects in our environment. Because as we burn it, it releases harmful carbon substances into the atmosphere. These carbon deposits will accumulate over time and will eventually trap heat inside our planet. This will cause climate change in all parts of our world, bringing catastrophic calamities beyond our control. Nuclear energy is another form of energy source which was developed not too long ago. It may be cheaper and could last longer than fossil fuels, but it is also more dangerous because of its radiation. Countries like Russia and Japan have already tasted its catastrophic wrath because they failed in controlling it properly. Once a nuclear power plant leaks, a whole city must be vacated for at least fifty years in order for it to be suitable for living again. Luckily our Australian government is aware of these things, that is why they are supporting programs which promotes clean renewable energy source. One viable source is through Hydro Power. It aims to harness the motion of water in our streams and rivers. They attach a mechanical device in these bodies of water which then turns it and converts it to electricity. The power from this device is able to power hundreds of homes in the city. Due to its success even establishments such as Bundoora Indoor Sports, which is the home of the Melbourne Dodgeball League, harnessed its power. They aim to show and persuade in their community to follow their steps in utilizing renewable power. We should all do our part in conserving our nature, because we are all living in one planet. If we fail to do this, we will all eventually suffer the same hideous fate.
