Written by Geordan Waldman, Certified Personal Trainer from Calabasas to Camarillo There are many reasons why it makes sense to retain a personal trainer. Here are five reasons that we came up with. What other reasons can you think of? 1. Don't know where to start: There are a wide range of exercises and exercise programs out there but trying to figure out what you need can be a daunting task. You have to get cardio, strength training, flexibility, and balance training all in to your exercise routines or else you are lacking in proper exercises. Doing the right amount of reps with the right amount of weight without injuring yourself and without going too easy on yourself is a fine line and is tough to find on your own. Good personal trainers are constantly increasing their knowledge base to be the most effective that they can be in helping their clients meet their fitness and or weight loss goals. 2. Not Seeing Results? Depending on your goals you will have to work out in different ways. If you reached a plateau and can't seem to get past it, you need someone there with the know how to change up your routine, challenge and push you. A trainer is going to know what you need and how to get you to where you want to be. They are going to show you new exercises, how to safely increase weight or what to do in order to progress and advance. A trainer is going to push you, ask you to do just one more rep, do another set. A trainer is going to ask you to go farther than you ever thought you could and you will be surprised at just how far you can actually go. 3. Accountability and encouragement: A trainer will keep you accountable for what you eat and do. We tend to go easy on ourselves when we fall off the wagon. We think we can restart our diet on Monday, or put off our workout for another few days until our schedule is "less busy". We all do it. We put off what we feel is difficult because there isn't someone there to push us. A trainer is going to keep you accountable for the food you eat, the way you work, and how hard you push yourself. This trainer will also encourage you, helping you through all your struggles while exercising. They will keep you motivated showing you that each benchmark can be reached if you work hard and set realistic goals. 4. Preventing injury: When exercising it is very important to have the correct form in each and every movement you do. Otherwise the wrong muscles are being worked and the likelihood of injury increases drastically. Also a trainer is there to see musculature and postural imbalances. This helps you work on correcting improper movement in every day activities. A trainer also will work to prevent muscular overload if you are working on a single set of muscles too often. A trainer will also be there to spot you during resistance training so that you do not over train or start "cheating" by altering your form in order to complete a repetition due to fatigues muscles. 5. Special needs or for injury: Whether you have a specific ailment such as cardiovascular disease, arthritis, diabetes, or you are dealing with old injuries, your trainer and doctor or physical therapist can work together to help you improve your way of living and to focus on corrective exercises that will strengthen weaker muscle groups. The benefits to exercise are countless, but you need to get started somewhere and the safest way to do so is with a trainer who has been certified to help treat these ailments with exercise. Doug Waldman, owner of 805GetFit.com states, "We firmly believe that everyone benefits from utilizing personal trainers. Professional athletes use trainers for a reason, they will push the athlete harder than they would push themselves and they will also use judgment in having the client stop when it has become clear that he or she is now tired and form has fallen away, thereby preventing injury. We have had clients of all ages from children needing something to do other than watch TV to seniors in their 70's and beyond. We even have many husband/ wife clients that work out together. They all benefit from having a fitness professional help with their fitness and weight loss goals." 805 Get Fit is an "In Home" personal training company that is there for the 80% of Americans who don't want to go to a gym or won't go to a gym by providing personal trainers direct to you..
