The year is about to end and we are all eager to celebrate the most wonderful festival of them all, Christmas. It is the time of year wherein almost all people are jolly and spending quality time with their family and loved ones. But celebrating this wonderful event widely differs from one culture to another. In America, people usually do traditional things during this wonderful period. People will go from house to house singing carols in return for a few dollars. They also organize year-end parties in their offices or the place where they work at. Prior to the event, the host usually places a green ornament on the ceiling. During the party, whoever is located under the said decoration are obliged to kiss, in a friendly way of course. In Asia, Christmas is not widely celebrated because most of the religions here are either Buddhist or Islam. However, there is one particular country in Asia who celebrates Christmas the longest duration in the whole world. The Philippines starts their seasons greeting in September and ends in January. Due to the strong Catholic influence from Spain, Filipinos goes to mass more frequently during this time. There’s even a series of masses held every dawn starting from December 16 to December 24. Whoever completes attending these “nine morning” masses is said to have his wish granted. Contrary to the American way of celebrating wherein it is typically solemn, they commemorate it with loud noises and fireworks, similar to a New Year celebration. However, prior to this ecstatic commotion they will have a solemn dinner with their family members called “Noche Buena”. Ausie’s on the other hand has a different approach in celebrating the Yuletide period. They love to give out presents and treats to almost everyone that knows them. From simple key chains to extravagant jewelries, Ausies just loves to give things. That is why this season the Melbourne Sports Centre is offering a huge discount to all dodgeball league players who wants to give their loves ones the unique experience of playing dodgeball. The aim of this promo is to encourage everyone to stay fit specifically during this time of year because most of us tend to lose our diets. This is due to the parties and gatherings that we partake during this special time. It is important for us to be physically fit regardless of the occasion, but this does not mean that we will lessen the fun in Christmas.
