Being able to get your entire family on board for just about anything is a significant task, especially if you are looking for a consensus. You’re likely to find the same amount of static when it comes to choosing from one of the many current movies in theaters right now, and that’s quite discouraging. You know how hard you and your spouse work all week, and your kids put in full-time job hours at school. All you want is to have a nice evening out for everyone to let off some steam, but the last thing you want to deal with is an inability to just choose a movie. If you’re hesitant to even look up the latest movies being shown at your local movie theater, here are three current movies that might fit the bill: Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch — We all know the original animated film is a masterpiece. There’s a reason that every holiday season brings about a necessary binge-watch of this great classic. How could there be another version? It’s almost blasphemy, but you definitely should give it a chance. Everyone loves the story of the grumpiest person in the world coming to understand the true meaning of Christmas, but the original film doesn’t give you much in the way of a background story. The new version does this & then ups the ante on all things Grinch. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms — A classic retelling of stories revolving around The Nutcracker introduces us to familiar characters, but we’re given a story of profound breadth. Moreover, we have a strong female lead actress & character, mesmerizing visuals, and a very interesting combination of storylines that brings to mind a cross between The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, and The Lord of the Rings. Who in your family wouldn’t want to see that! Ralph Breaks The Internet — ‘Breaks the internet’ is, in and of itself, a fairly ridiculous phrase due to its self-indulgence & vanity. This new installment of the Wreck-it Ralph franchise takes the lovable Ralph to the most dangerous yet exhilarating place imaginable — the internet. The visual effect and animation are spectacular, the vocal talent is on point, and you will never look at going online the same way again. The script is great, and the “almost broke the fourth wall” moments are fun for everyone. Note: you’ll also never see the Disney princesses the same way. It’s important to keep in mind that when it comes to the concept of the ‘current movies’, it’s all pretty relative. Just about every week brings about a new crop of movies to choose from, so what was current at one point won’t be later. All this is to say that there are movies being released all the time, so finding the right movie your whole family will love isn’t a one-time deal. You’ll have other chances to get things right.
