also known as
"The Eucharist" or
"The Lord's Supper"The Eucharist, also called Holy Communion, Sacrament of the Table, the Blessed Sacrament, or The Lord's Supper and other names, is a Christian sacrament or ordinance, generally considered to be a commemoration of the Last Supper, the final meal that Jesus Christ shared with his disciples before his arrest and eventual crucifixion. The consecration of bread and a cup within the rite recalls the moment at the Last Supper when Jesus gave his disciples bread, saying, "This is my body", and wine, saying, "This is my blood".[1][2] There are different interpretations of the significance of the Eucharist, but "there is more of a consensus among Christians about the meaning of the Eucharist than would appear from the confessional debates over the sacramental presence, the effects of the Eucharist, and the proper auspices under which it may be celebrated."[1] The phrase "the Eucharist" may refer not only to the rite but also to the bread and wine (or, in some Protestant denominations, unfermented grape juice) used in the rite,[3] and, in this sense, communicants may speak of "receiving the Eucharist", as well as "celebrating the Eucharist".

1. The Blessing of the Christian Sabbath
September 30, 2009
In Christian circles, even among those who do believe in keeping the ten commandments, there has still been confusion over the fourth commandment and whether we should be keeping the Sabbath on the seventh day that was ordained, sanctified and made Holy by God at the time of creation.

It is a time where we can study His Word, and let His Holy Spirit speak to us through it. A time that we can spend in earnest prayer, talking to Him, prai... (read more)

A child's first communion is a very special day in their life, a day that will be remembered 60 or 70 years hence. First Communion is a Right of Passage ceremony into the Catholic Church, where children make their own commitment to Christ.

Gone are the days of ritualistic learning of bible passages. Lessons include video and computer presentations to the children.
The day is important to the Church beca... (read more)

13. The Edible Bible
February 15, 2008
Years ago, I thought of manufacturing and selling edible Bibles. The book would be condensed, including only the most frequently quoted scriptures with pages made of a thin, wafer material similar to Catholic Holy Communion hosts. The idea was to cut out your favorite scripture and then eat it, after which it would mystically go deep inside where you would actually live that scripture. As my spiritual life matured, however, I realized that simply reading something or even eating the words was not enough for a personal transformation to take place. We have to experience something qu... (read more)

21. The Church of my Dreams
February 02, 2007
The priests would harvest the grain as the sun rose at the beginning of the Passover weekend. The grain would have to be crushed as it was ground to be made into the unleavened bread. It was then kneaded into dough and baked in an oven, to become a loaf. Later this loaf was broken.
Today it symbolises the body of Christ that believers share in Holy Communion. Many different denominations have various ways of going about it but the symbolism remains the same. The wine represents the blood of our Savior and the bread His Body.
