Mandya - The Sugar City Mandya referred to as the 'land of sugar' or 'the sugar city', is an administrative district in the southern part of the state of Karnataka, popular as a tourist destination in the region. Mandya was named so after a Sage Mandavya, who is supposed to have performed penance on this land. Mandya has been ruled by many dynasties like Gangas, Cholas and the Hoysalas.
