What 2012 Meant For Gadgets

Science & Technology,Humor,Internet
It seems that every year there is a new development in the world of technology. We are a planet obsessed with gadgets that make things easier or faster or sharper or clearer than ever before. Not content with 3G mobile broadband last year saw the introduction of 4G for mobile internet access. Supposedly the solution to all our mobile internet problems it allows us to access the internet faster than ever before from our mobile devises and despite its early hiccough, 4G is here to stay. It is not just with mobile phones either, all aspects of technological lives seem to be having an upgrade, a facelift or being placed on a strict digital diet to make them slimmer, fitter and faster than ever before.

This, of course is all great news for consumers as well as producers of this technology. In recent years of economic insecurity one of the biggest players in retail and consumer ecommerce has been that of the technical nature. Mobile phones, games consoles and other electronic industries have surfaced from the double dip depression relatively unscathed. So let’s take a closer look at some of the gadgets that really stood out for being innovators in their own field last year and take a look about what the latest buzz is for gadgets in 2013. GoPro Hero 3

This tiny camera has arguably been one of the most stunning developments in video recording since the birth of the video camera. Its size and durability make it perfect for getting incredible videos of on the most extreme of subject. Attach to a helmet, surfboard, tail of a plane and even your family pet and start recording. Wind reduction technology allows for perfect audio as you’re ski down the mountainside and is 100% waterproof allowing for all extreme sports to be seen like never before. Needless to say YouTube has exploded with would be extreme sports fanatics uploading their videos for you to enjoy all their thrills and spills as they chuck themselves down mountainsides, over obstacles and underwater.

Lytro

In terms of photography and how we access out photographs and view them, we have come a long way. Going through the cupboards and digging out an album is pretty out of date these days (although I do still do it from time to time), Lytro though has completely moved the goalposts when it comes to viewing photographs. It looks like no camera you’ve ever seen before and takes photographs like no camera ever has. It captures the direction of the light from the moment the picture is taken to allow you to create dynamic picture that come to life before your very eyes. Refocus and move around digital images like never before in a whole new world of digital photography. The Kindle

It was only a matter of time before books got the digital treatment. The Amazon kindle is basically a librarians nightmare, allowing you to store thousands and thousands of books on one easy to use, easy to read portable battery powered device. Amazon has used all their marketing nouse in this project and now dominates the e-reader market. With millions of publications from all over the world all through the ages, you can be reading the Canterbury Tales while downloading the latest releases from the literary world at the same time. A truly revolutionary step forward in an age old industry.

Windows 8

After suffering at the hands of its greatest rival on the mobile front, Windows had to reinvigorate their users in order not to lose them to the ever expanding Apple network. This meant totally redeveloping the Windows operating system for a whole bunch of new devices and laptops including tablets and touch screen laptops. Windows 8 did not fail to impress. Users loved the new interface and its adaptability. It’s a whole world away from the windows operating systems of old and integrates desktop apps with a stunning visual experience. All edges of the screen are active and contain different operations and management systems so you can wave goodbye to the good old start bar. This is a huge risk for Microsoft but it does propel them towards a new look and a new way of operating in preparation for new platform and systems which they will need to adapt to.

Google Glass

Now this is really cool, Google Glass is an augmented reality headset that looks like a pair of glasses, but do so much more. Record what you see, take a picture and start a video conversation with your friends, give you directions, send voice memos , ask it questions and receive answers straight to your headset all hands free. This all seems very sci-fi and futuristic, but it’s here now. Although you can’t buy them in the shops just yet it is a tantalizing look into the future of where gadget technology will be going over the next year or so.
