It is referred to sacrifice of a great livestock of animals. The significance of the event is connected to the sacrifice of Abraham in history. According to Islamic faith, the sacrifice of animal is considered legal from the 10th to the 11th of Dhu l-Hijjah. Over these days, Muslims are engaged in performing sacrifices of all kinds. Since Allah says in Quraan that it is not the blood or flesh that reaches the Allah but it is the piety that reaches him. The question is whether qurbani is compulsory on behalf of the person who is Muslim and is eligible for the performance. Though, a person may not directly involve in sacrificing but he can ask others to perform the task on his behalf. The person has to reach puberty to let another person perform the task on his behalf. The other person acting on your behalf ought to make the sacrifice for you and also a separate sacrifice for himself too. Hence, Islamic charities and qurbani are two separate terminologies in Quraan faith but they both aim at defining the religion from two different perspective.
