3. Sub-Prime Mortgage Lenders Account For Over Half Of UK Repossessions

Over half of the UK’s repossession orders are being brought by sub-prime lenders, according to a BBC report. These lenders cater for borrowers with poor credit histories and account for only 6% of the total mortgage market. Bulgaria's National Electric Company (NEK) and Russia's Atomstroyexport announced Friday [January 18] the signing of the principal agreement for the construction of a nuclear power plant at Belene. It was one of eight agreements signed between Bulgaria and Russia on the second day of an official visit here of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The agreement provides for the design, construction and commissioning of Units 1 and 2 of the Belene N-plant and is worth 3,997,260,000 euro. It could be an indication of how close the competition between the two leaders is, and how high the stakes involved are. Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are both spending extravagantly on their electoral campaigns. In contrast, Republican John McCain has spent only about a third as much.

The NPD Group provided a reminder this week that market growth is not guaranteed. The gaming industry in the US ended the year (2007) with record retail sales of nearly $18 billion.
This week The NPD Group the industry-research firm released US retail sales data for the January 2008 period. While software sales for the month were up 11 percent to nearly $611 million, hardware sales fell by a quarter to around $378 million. In January mobile retailer Carphone Warehouse and 3 teamed up to offer customers broadband on the go with a free laptop, making it cheaper and easier for people to get hold of laptops. Now PC World have a very similar offer, with a little advantage.

It is a beautiful time of year as it is January and we have over 18 inches of snow in our yard. Where we have shoveled it is about three feet high. I have several bird feeders and I enjoy watching the birds feed when it is snowy or snowing. They show up really well against the white background. They also seem so happy and there are so many of them.
