5. GM sells more than 2.2 million vehicles from January to April 2007

According to preliminary sales figures released earlier this week, General Motors sold a record of 2.26 million cars and trucks, along with their GM truck accessories, around the world this year from January to April. GM global first quarter sales were up 67,000 vehicles, or 3 percent, compared with sales of 2.19 million in the first quarter of 2006. GM Vice President John Middlebrook said GM’s posted record sales in the first quarter was driven by exceptionally strong demand in emerging markets such as the global sales, service and marketing operations. 7. Volkswagen's Passenger Cars still leads in Tougher Market Segment in SA

Last February 2007 Volkswagen—Europe’s largest automaker and producer of quality Volkswagen water pump --- was able to sell a total of 36,653 new passenger cars in South Africa which is lower than its sale in January 2007 by 10.7 percent and in turn lower than its February 2006 sale by 0.5 percent. But despite the decline the February 2007 sales shows a growth in the passenger market of 3.26% compared to the same period in 2006.

Last January 26, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced that a petition to limit the speed of trucks was filed by Road Safe America. The said petition will be open for public comments until the 27th of March this year. The thought-out regulation will directly affect trucks which weigh more than 26,000 pounds, and manufactured after 1990. The proposed law will enforce the use of electric speed governors to limit truck speeds up to 68 miles per hour only.
