The United States Census Bureau has defined 363 Metropolitan Statistical Areas[1] (MSAs) for the United States of America. The Census Bureau defines a Metropolitan Statistical Area as one or more adjacent counties or county equivalents that have at least one urban core area of at least 50,000 population, plus adjacent territory that has a high degree of social and economic integration with the core as measured by commuting ties. [2]The following sortable table lists the 363 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) of the United States with the following information[3] In 2007, 50.13% of Americans lived in the 40 most populous Metropolitan Statistical Areas.
