Discovering restful sleep tips is important due to the fact that sleep plays a vital role in our health and wellness. When you are sleeping, your body is working to support healthy brain function and to maintain your physical health. Sleep in vital in helping the brain function properly. A restful night’s sleep aides in: - improving learning - memory consolidation - enhancing your mood - lowering stress - healing and repairing of your heart and blood vessels - improving immune functioning, important in helping fight cancer - helping maintain a healthy balance of the hormone that makes you feel hungry Restful sleep tips: -

Create a consistent schedule. One way to gain a restful night’s sleep is to create of schedule of going to bed at the same time. It is important that adults receive a good 8 hours of sleep. You should keep the same schedule even on the weekends. You should develop a routine for preparing for a good night’s sleep. This may include taking a shower before bed, reading before bed, or relaxing and listening to your favorite soothing music.

- Use essential oils such as lavender or marjoram

Lavender is known as a very soothing relaxing oil. Research indicates that when inhaled, lavender is calming and has a sedative like effect. It has been used in helping with insomnia, anxiety, fatigue, and depression. Scientific evidence proposes that when inhaled or diffused lavender may: - Slow down the activity of the nervous system - Improve sleep quality - Stimulate relaxation, - Lift a person’s mood - Reduce Anxiety Sweet marjoram oil is helpful in helping individuals with insomnia. Marjoram has a very calming effect upon the central nervous system and it had been known to help in lowering blood pressure and in helping to relax one’s muscles. It is great for relieving stress which is a major issue in sleep problems. Marjoram can be diffused, inhaled, or rubbed diluted on the back of the neck before bed.
