UK house builder Barrat Developments has reported decline in sales and raising cancellation rates as conditions in the market deteriorate “significantly”. The company said that in the 19 weeks to 11 May, reservation rates were down by a third, with a big fall since the end of March. Barratt said the down turn was as a result of an "unprecedented" drop in the availability of mortgages and lower consumer confidence in the market. 3. FDA Reports That Deaths From Contaminated Heparin May Be More Than Triple Previous Estimates

The FDA has come forward stating that 62 deaths have now been linked to the blood-thinning drug, Heparin. This new estimate is almost triple the 19 fatalities reported in March of 2008. Reports have also shown that countless numbers of Americans have experienced severe reactions to the drug including extreme drops in blood pressure, diarrhea, and vomiting. The drug, which is generally used in patients with heart problems and those undergoing surgery, is believed to be contaminated with man-made oversulfated chondroitin.
