352. Who Would Win In a Fight, Email or Social Media?
November 06, 2020

A while back, I came across, yet again, another online discussion about the great debate between email marketing and social media marketing. Since I’m seeing this time and time again, I might as well discuss this with you. I actually spoke a little bit about this in an interview I did with a friend about three months ago. It depends on how you set up your business. I know some people who run their businesses with zero social media presence. They rely purely on referrals, which is perfectly fine. I know others who run their businesses purely on social media, like certai... (read more)

353. Horror
November 05, 2020

I remember there was a day where someone showed me an 1-bit pixel art game called… World of Horror It takes place in a small town in Japan, Shiokawa, where you come across many unusual events and horrific characters. Like events where people fall into comas out of nowhere. Or a monster, heavily inspired by the urban legend, Bloody Mary, that’s been on a rampage killing innocent high school students. Or all of a sudden, you find out there are holes appearing on your character’s body for unknown reasons. And the text you read in the game doesn’t make the game any le... (read more)

356. The Psychological Traps of Supermarkets
November 04, 2020

I watched a video and read a few articles about supermarkets, and what they do to get us customers to spend as much money as possible when we visit. Everything you see in a supermarket, and how it’s laid out, is all planned. The scary part is, you don’t even know that they’re controlling you with their psychological puppet strings as soon as you walk through the doors. Even if you do know their tricks, it’s hard to escape from them. If you don’t, let me give you a quick lesson. Keep in mind that their goal is to keep you in the store for as long as possible. The longer you’re in... (read more)

357. Why People in Politics Should Never Attempt Copywriting
November 03, 2020

There’s no better day to talk about this than today, Election Day. I’m sitting inside, and just waiting for the potential chaos to unfold across the country. While that’s happening, I watched a video a friend of mine sent me talking about how to have a conversation. Sounds so simple and silly, but it’s amazing how many people don’t know how to do it. Take people in politics, for example. The video I watched described a typical political conversation very accurately. It’s almost always going to end up in two people talking at each other and refusing to listen. They... (read more)

Today company marketing using social media systems have come to be a priority for small-scale organizations. Not everybody is your possible customer. 359. Nukes, Human Race, and Emails
November 02, 2020

We all have friends that we can have different types of conversations with. With some of them, you can talk about touchy subjects like politics. With others, you can have more philosophical conversations. You can talk to some about videogames. Or creative arts. Or even subjects that are absolutely random and ridiculous. And that was one of the conversations I had with one of my friends. Somehow we managed to get into the topic of nuclear weapons and came across a website that simulates what would happen if you were to nuke a certain part of this world. Y... (read more)

360. Worried About a Drop in Engagement Rates?
October 29, 2020

I’m in a couple of LinkedIn email marketing groups. Rarely do I ever check for new posts. But when I do, I get some pretty interesting questions. For example, here’s one I came across not too long ago. ---------- Has anyone noticed a drop in engagement rates with Gmail users? I was wondering if more of our emails are now being placed into the Promo folder rather than Primary as there is a dip in Open and Click rates over the past months. Nothing changed on our side. Was wondering if Gmail made adjustments on their algorithm to add more senders to Promo? ---------- ... (read more)

362. The Power of Being Vulnerable
October 28, 2020

Looking back through my college years, I thought about all the professors I had. All the ones the students liked, and the ones they didn’t like so much. After thinking for a good couple of minutes, I noticed a pattern. There’s one common thing that all the ‘liked’ professors have. They all talk to their students about things beyond academics, mostly about themselves. Not too much though. I heard stories of professors venting about their personal relationship issues to their students. I’m sure nobody needs to listen to that. But the point is, those professors showed the... 363. Why the Avengers Theme Song is Stuck In My Head
October 27, 2020

A friend once asked me, “What’s your favorite song as of right now?” My answer was, “I don’t have a favorite song. But there is a song that’s stuck in my head right now, and that’s Marvel’s Avengers theme song.” She laughed at me because she thought I was joking. But I was 100% serious, and I gave that answer for two reasons: 1. I’m currently learning how to play that song on the piano. 2. I have a newfound appreciation for orchestra music. Yes, I have indeed. Never have I ever thought I’d develop an interest in this. So I’ve been constantly listeni... (read more)

364. Treatment of Gingival Melanin Hyperpigmentation using Dental Diode Laser
October 26, 2020

A beautiful smile surely enhances the individual’s self-confidence. The esthetics of smile though majorly influenced by the color, shape, and position of the teeth, is also influenced by the color of the gingival tissues. The color of gingiva is influenced by the vascular supply, thickness and degree of keratinization of the epithelium, and presence of various pigments. Among these, the major factor contributing to the color of gingiva is melanin. Gingival hyperpigmentation does not pose any medical problem, but many patients may consider this an esthetic problem, particularly patients who hav... (read more)

365. The Interview That Gave Off Every Single Red Flag I Avoid Like the Black Plague
October 26, 2020

I remember I was in an interview a while back. It was for a marketing position at an agency. Here’s how the interview process went down. I went through two rounds. Round one: I was on a video call with one of the hiring managers, except that there were 15 other candidates on call too. He basically told us to fill out a questionnaire within an hour and a half, then ended the call. It only lasted 10 minutes. The questionnaire was asking why I’d be the perfect hire, what my goals are, etc. I submitted it on the edge of the deadline, got a reply back an... (read more)

366. Why I Don't Pay Attention to Reviews Anymore
October 23, 2020

I don’t know about you, but I’ve gotten to a point in my life where I don't trust reviews anymore. Whether I go to buy products, eat at restaurants, or see movies, I don’t read a single review beforehand. When I read the one star product reviews on Amazon, most, if not all them have nothing to do with reviewing the product itself. They either talk about something extremely minor or something else that was clearly their own fault. Restaurant reviews? There are going to be people who complain about bad food or terrible service, but it doesn’t even apply to me most of the time. Bec... (read more)

367. Why Reading Many Copywriting Books Is a Waste of Money
October 22, 2020

People tell us that reading is good, and it’s true. It’s one of the best ways to learn new things. When it comes to learning copywriting, there are so many books out there that can help you improve. But is it good to read multiple books on copywriting? Is there such a thing as reading too many? We all see those posts on social media and motivational speeches on YouTube telling us we should spend our time learning new skills and doing other productive things like reading books instead of doing supposedly unproductive things like watching TV or playing video games. Let me answer t... (read more)

368. Snapple Cap Fact #454
October 21, 2020

Here’s an interesting thing I learned today that I thought you’d love to know, but will be of little added value to your everyday life. Armadillo shells are bulletproof. How do we know? It’s all thanks to a good fellow in Texas who accidentally took one for the team. He found an armadillo in his backyard at three in the morning. He tried to shoot the animal with his revolver, but one of the bullets ricocheted off the shell and went through his jaw. It’s unfortunate that this happened to him and I hope the man recovered with no problems. But I got to thank him for makin... (read more)

369. Orthodontic Exposure of Impacted Permanent Tooth using Soft Tissue Diode Laser
October 21, 2020

Introduction-An impacted tooth simply means that it is “stuck” and cannot erupt into function. The most commonly impacted or un-erupted tooth is the permanent maxillary canine. Primarily the impaction is due to arch length deficiency. Since the canine is usually the last tooth to erupt anterior to the first molar in the maxillary arch, shortage of space may result in ectopic eruption or impaction of this tooth. There has been numerous hypotheses developed regarding the etiology of canine impaction, the issue remains controversial. Impacted canine can cause complications without such as interna... 370. Giving a Friend My Non-expert Branding Advice
October 20, 2020

Here’s a story that happened a while back. I was on a call with some friends. One of them shared a business idea with the group and wanted our feedback He wanted to create his own clothing line. It was an idea he was developed while he was stuck inside during the lockdown. While he was talking about it, he shared some notes with us too. I read it over and immediately knew what was missing. Here’s what I said to him, obviously not in the exact words, but the main idea still remains. ————— So you have all the physical features figured out, which is good. But if... (read more)

371. What a Wild Weekend Work-cation
October 19, 2020

If you don’t know this about me yet, music production is a hobby I’ve been into for quite a while now. A little over 10 months now, to be exact. But I have to admit, for two-thirds of those ten months, I didn’t take it as seriously as I should’ve. I’d work on the craft for one day, then leave it on the back shelf for a few weeks. That was the worst case scenario, and yes, it was terribly inconsistent. But recently, my brain made a switch, and I made a goal to create something everyday, even if it was incomplete. And when I say create something, I mean literally an... (read more)

372. True Perfection is Authenticity
October 16, 2020

Some of my younger friends are at the point in their lives where they’re starting to focus on finding jobs. Out of all the stages of the job searching process, the interview is the most stressful part to most of them. And I can understand why. The pressure of talking to the very person who has the power to hire or reject you. The pressure of wanting to answer the interview questions perfectly. It can be a bit nerve-wracking. So whenever they come to talk to me about it, I always tell them the same thing. “It’s no more than just a conversation between two peop... (read more)

374. The Absurdity to Own/Show Off Something to Make It Seem Like You're Someone You're Not
October 15, 2020

I had a conversation with one of my friends some number of days ago. We were talking about music and our experience with it. We both have an interest in piano, and I told her that I used to play the violin… For three weeks. Maybe that’s a story I’ll share with you some other day. Anyways, moving on. The conversation transitioned to guitars. My friend pointed out how she has many friends who own guitars, but it’s funny they don’t even know how to play it. So why own an instrument if you don’t know how to use it? Room decor? Perhaps. Or to make p... (read more)

375. The Grapefruit Confusion: The Cost of False Assumptions
October 15, 2020

Are False Assumptions Costing Your Business Valuable Sales? When I was in grade 11, our high school music department held a fundraiser selling grapefruit. Yes, grapefruit. Don't ask. Our local community channel (shout out to MSA Cable 3!) caught wind of this initiative and wanted to interview one of the students during their live Thursday night "What's Happening" program. For whatever reason, I was chosen for this honour. Who knows, I probably was the first to raise my hand and volunteer when no one else was jumping at the opportunity. Be on TV? I'm IN! Thursday night... (read more)
