Nigeria, officially named the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is a federal constitutional republic comprising thirty-six states and one Federal Capital Territory. The country is located in West Africa and shares land borders with the Republic of Benin in the west, Chad and Cameroon in the east, and Niger in the north. Its coast lies on the Gulf of Guinea, part of the Atlantic Ocean, in the south. The capital city is Abuja.

The people of Nigeria have an extensive history, and archaeological evidence shows that human habitation of the area dates back to at least 9000 BC.[3] The Benue-Cross River area is thought to be the original homeland of the Bantu migrants who spread across most of central and southern Africa in waves between the 1st millennium BC and the 2nd millennium AD.

Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa and the eighth most populous country in the world with a population of over 140&_160;million. It is a regional power, it is listed among the "Next Eleven" economies, and is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The economy of Nigeria is one of the fastest growing in the world with the International Monetary Fund projecting a growth of 9% in 2008 and 8.3% in 2009.[4][5][6][7]

The Nok people in central Nigeria produced terracotta sculptures that have been discovered by archaeologists.[8] A Nok sculpture resident at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, portrays a sitting dignitary wearing a "Shepherds Crook" on the right arm, and a "hinged flail" on the left. These are symbols of authority associated with ancient Egyptian pharaohs, and the god Osiris, and suggests that an ancient Egyptian style of social structure, and perhaps religion, existed in the area of modern Nigeria during the late Pharonic period.[9] In the northern part of the country, Kano and Katsina has recorded history which dates back to around AD 999. Hausa kingdoms and the Kanem-Bornu Empire prospered as trade posts between North and West Africa.

1. FACTS ABOUT URBAN AREA DEVELOPMENT:
November 18, 2008

An urban area is an area with a population figure of more than fifty thousand people living inside it. If the population is less than fifty thousand, it is called a cluster. Most urban cities of the world are under security surveillance 24 hours a day to ensure the security of lives and property in that particular area. What are other things that can qualify a city to be classified as an urban city aside the population? Few of them are: 1) Adequate water supply: Supply of adequate quality water is a must in any urban city. It is really unfortunate that it is not so in Nigeria, as mo... (read more)

8. British drivers' determination to cope with fuel prices
September 10, 2008

Fuel prices have continued soaring without any possibility of a relief for anyone badly in need of oil either to fuel their vehicle or for any other purposes. Thanks to the crises in parts of the world considered major oil producers like Iraq, Nigeria and, perhaps, the impending conflict in the Persian Gulf, oil production has dramatically dropped while prices have in the last three years risen gradually but steadily. At the bottom-line of it all is the ordinary consumer, a class to which British motorists belong. While struggling to come to terms with increases in the general cost of liv... (read more)

11. Voodoo Is An Egyptian Magic
August 26, 2008

Voodoo is a religion brought to America by black slaves from Nigeria, a country that became a central resource of slavery boom for colonial powers, which all started with massive transport of slaves from West Africa to America in about the year 1500 with cruelest forms of humiliation. Of course, these human beings were not slaves, but only forcibly made that way. Many of them were killed and flogged to death like animals. Among the barbaric nations were Spain (which colonized countries like Cuba, Venezuela, Peru...), Portugal (Brazil), and United Kingdom (which colonized Northern America). Oth... (read more)

July 14, 2008

THINGS HAVE FALLEN APART IN NIGERIA AND THE CENTRE CAN NEVER HOLD AGAIN!!! Nigeria is generally described as a fraud by those who know her history. This is because the colonial masters, the chief architects of this modern day crime conceived it in greed, avarice, nepotism, covetousness, and indeed in utter hatred for the black race. This is evidently so because over 250 nationalities with different languages and diverse cultures were forced into this fraud called Nigeria, against their wishes, thereby violating their individual and collective human rights. THE END OF NIGERIA – THE WICKED NATION IS IMMINENT!!! Nigeria is so many things to different people; to some Nigeria is a country richly endowed with both mineral and human resources. Yet she is classified among the poorest countries of the world, and her citizens are reputed to be living below the poverty level – notwithstanding her position as the sixth largest oil producing nation in the world. 18. America's Growing Energy Crisis
April 25, 2008

The following are excerpts from a - now seemingly prophetic - article I wrote in August, 2005 about the pending fuel crisis in America while I was living in Iceland. August, 2005: I read an online article this morning about a ‘war games’ simulation conducted in America showing how fuel prices could soar as a result of certain events, such as terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia and Alaska, political instability in Nigeria and other scenarios. In short, fuel supplies would be choked, the cost of oil would soar to $120 per barrel, gas would rise to $5.30 per gallon and the U.S. would slide ... (read more)

25. Something of a disappointment - Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
October 01, 2007

It is not often that a novel comes to hand that has been prized, praised and pre-inflated. Half of a Yellow Sun was in that category when I opened it and began to read. And I was captivated immediately. I read the first hundred pages at a pace, delighting in the ease with which the Chimanada Ngozi Adichie used language to draw me into the middle-class clique centred on the University of Nsukka which provides the core characters of her book. Their infidelities, their inconsistencies, their desire, despite the servants, for equality and freedom are symptomatic of their time. The dissimilar twin ... (read more)
