Designing a website is one thing but getting it noticed is another matter. Any one can build and publish a web page but getting on the first page of Google is going to be a little more difficult. You can get on the first page of Google by paying for the privilege or you can pay a search engine optimization company to do it for you. Either way is not going to be cheap, but there is another option "do it your self." The two major elements to consider are on page factors and off page factors. On page factors such as meta description and title tags must contain the key words that you want to be found for. If your selling cheap holidays then your meta and tile tags must contain the key words cheap holidays, as these are the search terms you want to be found for. Also include your key words in the text body of your page, but don't over do it as you can be penalized for excessive key word use. Your h1 tags should also contain the main key words, and the tag its self should be positioned at the top left of the page, as search engines read a web page from left to right and from top to bottom. Male sure all your key words are included in your key word tag, although a lot of SEO gurus say this tag isn't relevant, it wont do you any harm to include it. That's the easy bit the next part of the puzzle is the off page factor (link building). Link building is basically putting a link to your site on as many different web sites as possible. There are numerous sites that you can put your link on. Social bookmarking sites are an excellent place to start, this will help your site to get indexed a lot quicker as well. This is a tactic i use for new sites that i launch and some of the sites that I have published, have been indexed in a couple of hours. If you leave your site to be indexed naturally it could take months. When submitting your site make sure you include your key words in the title box and in the tag box. Submitting articles is another tactic that i use to build back links, and improve page rank. Write a good quality article about your service or product and the submit the article to as many article sites as possible. The trick is to submit unique articles as the links in the article will carry more weight in the eyes of the search engines. There are a couple of free tools that will help you spin articles. Include your key words in your links. Submitting your site to directory's is another way to spread your links across the web, trouble is it can take months for some directory's to publish your link. Make sure your key words are in the title tab. Building back links is one of the most tedious parts of internet marketing, but one of the most important if you want your site to appear on the first page of Google. I do all my own link building, I don't pay any one mainly because lam tight. Optimization companies can be very pricey, and some will take your money and disappear. Be cautious about paying for SEO as the results are not guaranteed. And don't be taken in by some of the scams that are floating about, secret codes, get rich quick schemes and guaranteed traffic blue prints they are all designed to part you from your cash. Honestly they wont work, if you want to get any where in the internet marketing game do it properly. It will take time and patience but your efforts will be rewarded in the long run.
