online journal is a publication of a serial nature that make use of
digital distribution methods. Most parallel the print approach of producing editions periodically, but it is equally possible for them to accept works one at a time on a continuous intake basis. An online
journal shares some features with a
blog, but can usually be distinguished by its approach to
editorial control. Journals of all kinds typically have
editors or
editorial boards who review submissions and perform a
quality control function to ensure that all material appearing in the journal meets the expectations of those investing time or money in its production.
