Oregano or pot marjoram ( Origanum vulgare) is a species of Origanum, native to Europe, the Mediterranean region and southern and central Asia. It is a perennial herb, growing to 20-80 cm tall, with opposite leaves 1-4 cm long. The flowers are purple, 3-4 mm long, produced in erect spikes. Its name derives from the Greek origanon ????a??? oros ???? "mountain" + the verb ganousthai ?a???s?a? "delight in". [1] Oregano (seed) is also known as Ajwain (??????) in Urdu. The subspecies of oregano Origanum vulgare hirtum is an important culinary herb. It is particularly widely used in Greek and Italian-American cuisines. It is the leaves that are used in cooking, and the dried herb is often more flavourful than the fresh.[2]. Oregano is often used in tomato sauces, fried vegetables and grilled meat. Together with basil, it contributes much to the distinctive character of many Italian dishes. Oregano combines nicely with pickled olives, capers, and lovage leaves. Unlike most Italian herbs,[citation needed] oregano works with hot and spicy food, which is popular in southern Italy.

3. My Cat's A Catnip Addict!
June 26, 2008
My cat Spike loved Aunt Rose at first sight. It was almost embarrassing the way he rolled over on her feet and meowed louder than ever I heard him as he tried to get as close to her as possible. He even jumped upon her lap, continuing to rub his head on her hands and arms. I had never seen him act this way to anyone. She said she'd been working in her garden thinning various herbs and spices that were threatening to take over her lawn. She even brought us a gift of a bag of plants for us to use in our herb garden. Little did we know that she was making our cat a friend for life.

Parts used and where grown
Oregano is an aromatic perennial herb that can grow to about two feet in height. It is native to the Mediterranean region but is cultivated worldwide. 7. What is Morgellons disease?
May 12, 2008
Morgellons disease is named after a similar-sounding disease described in 17th century in France. It is a rare skin disease that shows sores that ooze out blue and white fibers, skin eruptions and legions of the skin that are very painful. It seems that this disease found some new victims in the USA, Texas to be more precise.
The scientific community is very divided on the subject, some saying that it is a affabulation, others that it is a benign disease: the controversy rages as highlighted in Wikipedia. This epidemic seems somewhat more serious and hard to heal. So much so that a founda... (read more)

Lavender (from the scientific genus Lavandula) is not one of the commonest herbs mentioned in this regard, but it is a member of the mint family and scientific studies have shown that it does have some antifungal properties. Aromatic herbs, which must fend off the attacks of fungi and other organisms in nature, seem to produce potent substances that can be extracted or distilled from the plant to produce a concentrated antifungal substance.
