June 12, 2015

If you are shopping for a new mattress, check out products made by visco elastic foam manufacturers. Perhaps those words aren't quite familiar. 4. What's Wrong With Treating Your Pet Like A Baby?
November 17, 2014

The University of Northern Colorado, as well as a few Colleges, has developed a pilot program where dorm students are allowed to keep pets under 40 pounds. My first thought was “isn’t that nice” followed quickly by “Yeah, but, that pet will soon be neglected!” Would you allow a dorm student to have a baby living with them?! I still remember what it was like being a full-time student. Your time is spent getting to classes, studying, projects...and having spending money. You may also be working at a part time job. So who is going to regularly take the dog out for a walk, let alone to do “t... (read more)

5. Summer Safety For Your Doggys
August 01, 2014

It’s still crazy hot outside. You may love being outside, possibly pool side, but your doggy will suffer if you are not careful. When outside for any length of time, if possible, try and tie your dog to a large, shady tree. A big bowl of water nearby is a must. Do not leave your dog by his dog house. In the summer the house will only trap the heat. If you and your pet love long walks, then plan to do them early in the morning or late in the evening when the pavement won’t be hot. Asphalt can actually burn your doggy’s paws. Now is the time to check out grassy parks and sidewalks for your ... (read more)

6. All Dogs Go To Heaven
June 11, 2014

My beloved Standard Schnauzer, Gracie is over 14 years old. Last April she started to have health problems. This past January, Gracie’s veterinarian told me that she probably had about 6 months left. Gracie is still with me but I try every day to appreciate her a little bit more and try to prepare myself for when she’s in heaven. I have to remind myself that she has lived a long, healthy and loving life! There are blogs that offer pet bereavement support that I will want to visit when the time comes. I plan to have her cremated, and was able to find a china dog figurine that I plan to pu... (read more)

May 30, 2014

I finally got to see the 1939 Classic “The Wizard of Oz” on a big screen in a fabulous old theatre. I have probably seen this movie at least 20 times but nothing beats seeing it large and in a theatre. Spoiler Alert: if you have never seen this movie, then go and buy a dvd....don’t even think of just downloading it...everyone needs to have this movie in their collection. So now I realize that Toto, a Cairn Terrier, just doesn’t get the credit for the major part played in the movie. There is no greater love that a lonely girl can have for her dog and the dog for her girl! Dorothy runs awa... (read more)

March 23, 2014

I remember when my babies were old enough to no longer need jars of baby food but could start to eat “real” people food. It’s feels the same with my puppy and older dog. You want to make sure that the treat you are giving them is a real treat and not a real threat to their health! You got to do some research. 12. Spring Into Doggy Treats and Tips
March 17, 2014

I love it when I find common sense, easy to do tips to help our furry friends to maintain their overall well being. Spring is coming. At least when the two feet of snow that fell last week in Upstate New York melts for good and I can see what my yard looks like. My dogs just think that everything I do is fascinating. So they have to be outside with me for a few hours at a time to supervise the raking and ongoing battle of “who is going to win” the weeds or me. I don’t have a fenced in yard so I keep them on separate, long nylon ropes and tie them up far enough apart that their ropes won’... (read more)

18. If We Could Talk To The Animals!
January 28, 2014

I freely admit that I “talk” for my dog. I say out loud what I think she would say if she could speak and not just bark...like I really, really think I even know what she is thinking! Ok, who hasn’t wished at some time that their pet could actually talk like a human? “No More Woof” is a device, still in the prototype phase, by the Nordic Society for Invention and Discovery located in Scandinavia. The company says “Hold in mind that this first round is partly novelty science.” Depending on how much you are willing to spend, the device will come in three different versions. You can actually... 19. Don't Give Your Doggy A Rawhide Treat!
January 18, 2014

When I first brought home my 11 month old Standard Schnauzer, Rosie, I quickly realized she was an “aggressive chewer!” That first week I learned to move anything “interesting” up off the floor and out of her height range. Having Rosie has helped me be a better, neater housekeeper. I have since learned that with an aggressive chewer, you have to be very careful on choosing what kind of chew toys or chew treats to satisfy them. My older dog will just “gum” rawhide treats. But Rosie was tearing off chunks and we ended up with a vet visit. Luckily no damage was done but the vet warned me t... (read more)

January 14, 2014

I have often said that it was less stressful taking my children, when they were young, to their various doctor appointments then when I have to take my dog to the vet. When I finally decided to adopt a dog, one of the biggest reasons in making my decision was that I have an excellent veterinarian all of five minutes from my house. I live in a tiny town so this is all the more wonderful, plus it is a large practice with several doctors. In fact, people from all over New York come to this practice. There have been a few times over the years when the doctor themselves have called me back to ... (read more)
