A park is a protected area, in its natural or semi-natural state or planted, and set aside for human recreation and enjoyment. It may consist of, rocks, soil, water, flora and fauna and grass areas. Protected wilderness zones are required for some wild species to survive. Some protected parks focus mainly on the survival of a few threatened species, such as gorillas or chimpanzees. A national park is a reserve of land, usually, but not always declared and owned by a national government, protected from most human development and pollution. National parks are a protected area of IUCN category II. The largest national park in the world is the Northeast Greenland National Park, which was established in 1974. In the United States the concept of preserving landscapes for the pleasure of the people was established on June 30, 1864, when President Abraham Lincoln signed the bill creating the Yosemite Grant. A policy of preservation, rather than co-usage as in the National Forests, where grazing, farming and logging are licensed, was implemented four decades later during the presidential administration of Teddy Roosevelt, and Yosemite became a national park. Tourism and, later, recreation were the intended purposes of the lands Roosevelt set aside in the system. John Muir was instrumental in this effort.

2. My Diatribe About MP3 Players
November 21, 2009
I hate wholesale Mp3 players. You stroll into the park and everybody looks like aliens with their earbuds and vacant looks on their faces. Or sitting on the metro, you are next to a person wearing an IPod or some other kind of wholesale Mp3 players and you can really OVERHEAR what they are playing! Heavy metal blasting into their eardrums and, on the way, assaulting me! Are they completely uninformed about tinnitus, or ear damage, that can be caused by high volume noises? It can be a life-long issue and here they are, young people and seemingly ignorant of the injury they are doing to themselv... (read more)

I am a firm believer that you can never have too much home storage. After all, you can only pile everything into the garage for so long before you can no longer park the car in there. Here is a quick list of inexpensive home storage projects that will make life a little easier and maybe even make some room for your car in the garage. Invest in multifunctional furniture. Some favorites of mine include ottomans with secret storage compartments, beds with built-in drawers, and the classic Murphy bed which tucks away into the wall, making your guest room twice as functional. 5. National Park Experiences You Can't Have
November 20, 2009
As a regular national park junkie, my family and I have fantastic memories of experiences that are no longer possible. I’m not talking about watching the scheduled bear feedings that were staged at many of our great national parks in the 1930s; I'm talking about experiences in the last 10 – 20 years that are no longer possible.
In the early 1990s, we traveled to Sequoia National Park (NP) and Kings Canyon NP for the first time. My wife booked one of the most charming and spacious cabins we had ever experienced on a vacation. Sequoia NP advertised it as “sleeping beneath the Giant Sequo... (read more)

November 20, 2009
So the other day I was looking for apartments for rent and I came across an ad for cheap holidays apartments in Aya Napa. November 20, 2009
Road safety is an important public health concern. A larger number of people are killed in road accidents, and many others are seriously injured in motor vehicle crashes. The cost of these deaths, injuries, and property damages is profound. Many of the collisions result from aggressive drivers performing dangerous maneuvers to avoid traffic backups, driving between cones on lane closures to pass traffic lines, and leaving the roadway to access adjacent roadways. In addition, at night or in inclement weather, even safe drivers can have difficulty maneuvering through drums and barricades that d... (read more)
