Do you treat your pets like family? Of course, you do. So, when you’re planning a getaway without your furry friend, you need to find the best dog boarding in Seattle. If you don’t have a go-to boarding facility, it can seem a little overwhelming choosing one. Here are some tips for finding a caring, quality boarding facility. First Impressions Matter You should never choose a boarding facility simply by researching the center online or by recommendation alone. Instead, you should visit the facility so you have first-hand knowledge of the how the center is run. Don’t let your gut lead you from making the right decision. If you visit a facility that is dirty, has too many dogs, or seems like the staff just doesn’t care, this isn’t the right facility for your pet. Vaccination Policy It’s important to know the center’s vaccination policy because your dog will be exposed to other canines. Just because you have your dog’s vaccinations up to date doesn’t mean that other dog owners do. This could spell big trouble if another dog bites your pet or there is an outbreak of illness. The best facilities require owners to provide proof of current vaccinations. Outdoor Playtime Although you may only be gone for a few days, it’s still critical that your dog get proper exercise. You don’t want your pet to be stuck in a cage all day long. Preferably, you want to select a facility that has the perfect balance of indoor and outdoor time. When your dog is outside, does he have a large area to run around in? Are small dogs and big dogs separated and properly supervised? These are just 3 considerations when selecting a facility that provides short and long-term dog boarding in Seattle. If your dog has special needs, takes certain medications, or you have other concerns, make sure the facility is able to address them in a manner that is acceptable to you.
