These mountains can be got to in less than 25 min's and you could perhaps go to see the Montebelo golf course. Set between the Serra da Estrela and Serra do Caramulo ranges, granting a unique opportunity to encounter this sport amongst the most stunning scenery in Portugal. The small town of Pedro de Alva is only four kilometres from Lagares. Here you can access all of your necessary conveniences, including schooling, health care, and cafe's, along with grocery stores, banks, shops and malls and a post office. For your urban requirements, the larger towns of Mortagua, Penacova, Santa Comba Dao, and Coimbra are just a half hour's drive away. Coimbra City offers a selection of malls with cinema's, bowling and a great choice of food in the food halls. It is a historical University City, and host to the Universidade de Coimbra. This institution of higher learning was founded in 1290. The marvellous architecture and appeal of the City will offer a variety of opportunities to explore. Nearby you is located the Roman ruins of Conimbriga open to visitors. The famous Serra da Estrella National Park is only an hours drive from Lagares and through part of the year there are great skiing facilities open to the public. West will direct you to coastal locations where you will locate endless beaches to relax on these include Praia da Tocha and Figueira da Foz.
