Sound As A Pound No More! The British pound (GBP) is weak across the board today as BOE Governor King re-iterated that a weaker currency should lead to a recovery in the economy.
This comes on the heels of a better than expected unemployment report, though not enough to buoy the sentiment for a rapid economic recovery. The symposium, co-organised by the Fulbright Centre and the Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP), two US non-profit organizations, aims to build a more peaceful world and honours the most peaceful countries in the world.
The symposium attracted the 18 countries with the highest Global Peace Index (GPI) in 2009. The GPI, produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace in Sydney, Australia, is composed of 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators.

The Bank of England has today announced its base rate will remain at the record low of 0.5% for the sixth month running.
It also reported that it would continue to inject up to £175 billion into the economy as part of its quantitative easing scheme, but this amount will not be extended further.
This follows a number of recent surveys that suggest the UK has begun to emerge from the recession.
