I had mates from New Zealand, Rockhampton & Tassie stay at the hotel for three days, although I'm living in Brisbane I thought a night away for me, my partner and the two kids would be delightful, catching up with old school friends.
We have stayed at numerous hotels in Brisbane so we made a decision to try The Royal due to its close position to the Botanical Gardens.
On check in the porter on duty an older gentlemen stood at he is's tiny post and didn't wish to help us with our luggage......not an excellent start. The Room although a little old in appearance had a good bed, soft sheets, good pillows. The children slept on a pull out style sofa bed which was fine for them. it had been a saturday morning and my husband went to get us a coffee, he went to the bar area, they seemed to be finishing breakfast and a little busy, he asked the host on the door about coffee she revealed take a seat and somebody will be with you directly, never occurred. Luckily whilst he was there a chef walked through, asked whether he was been looked after, waiting for a coffee he revealed, no issues claimed the chef, what would I like and then made it for him, he will make coffee, right temperature, good coffee. He then cleared are table, saw the youngsters a little bored and went to reception and got some pens and paper for the girls to draw. Staff friendly and helpful everything went accordingly to plan.
we did not have dinner in the restaurant, I only wish we probably did, our pals ate in shifts with one watching the youngsters, kids had room service, again good. very busy, small wait but fine, we accepted. When checking out my husband commented on the service, solely to give them feedback, a lady come out of a room in a flash and asked us if we would have liked to make a complaint about the chef, you know what chefs are like she announced. Confused my husband told her that the chef in fact was the high spot of the stay and he was very helpfull, she just turned and vanished. Good Job Chef!, should have asked he is's name but didn't.
there is a very nice outdoor pool, a gymnasium and a bar and eaterie. We had lunch one day and completely loved the meal. Room Service was excellent too. Overall - We fully loved our comfortable bed and the room though a little strange in the layout was very comfy and I highly suggest you book the Spa deluxe Suite if you're hunting for spaceWe liked the site of the hotel its fabulous for getting around Brisbane and if you like walking its just awesome regarding strolling thru the Botanical Gardens onto the boardwalk to South-bank. The hotel is barely dated regarding the facade and reception lobby areas, regardless we found it to be an extremely comfortable hotel.
