Shame is, variously, an affect, emotion, cognition, state, or condition. The roots of the word shame are thought to derive from an older word meaning to cover; as such, covering oneself, literally or figuratively, is a natural expression of shame. [1]Nineteenth century scientist Charles Darwin, in his book The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals, described shame affect as consisting of blushing, confusion of mind, downward cast eyes, slack posture, and lowered head, and he noted observations of shame affect in human populations worldwide.[2] He also noted the sense of warmth or heat (associated with the vasodilation of the face and skin) occurring in intense shame. A "sense of shame" is the consciousness or awareness of shame as a state or condition. Such shame cognition may occur as a result of the experience of shame affect or, more generally, in any situation of embarrassment, dishonor, disgrace, inadequacy, humiliation, or chagrin.[3] A condition or state of shame may also be assigned externally, by others, regardless of the one's own experience or awareness. "To shame" generally means to actively assign or communicate a state of shame to another. Behaviors designed to "uncover" or "expose" others are sometimes used for this purpose, as are utterances like "Shame!" or "Shame on you!"

1. Guide to theatre
November 06, 2009
Guide to Theatre
Going to the theatre can be a fun experience for seasoned patrons of the arts as well as first-timers. Arrive early enough to be able to be seated before the curtain goes up. (If you are late, most theatres will not seat you until an appropriate break in the performance occurs.) Considering it can cost quite a lot to buy tickets it would be a shame to miss out. Read the program beforehand to familiarize yourself with the actors, the plot and other interesting information about the cast and the performance. It will make knowing who Is who a lot easier. Always turn off ... (read more)

2. Correct positioning of your Google adsense ads
November 06, 2009
Correct positioning of your Google adsense ads can make or break your success with the Google adsense program. Why is this true? Some studies suggest that eye positioning on website gravitate to particular sections of web pages. And if you don’t have the necessary ads in these positions you will not get the clicks. I talked to countless people that have great traffic, some with 300 to 1000 new visitors a day that say that they only make approx. at max $10 to $20 dollars a month on the adsense program. What a shame. But when I look at their websites the ads are either buried in wording th... (read more)

4. Chronicles by Rodney Howard Browne
November 06, 2009
How can any one be so clueless? He disobeyed the Lord's direct command by keeping not just a few things under the ban, but keeping everything having any value. On top of having no sense, Saul had no shame. Rather than being humiliated by his own guilt, he erected a monument to himself to venerate the day. At least Achan had the good sense to be embarrassed about his sin. Samuel's reply is valuable [*CO]'What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?' 7. Acupuncture can be effective in treating canine joint disease
November 05, 2009
Arthritis and hip dysplasia are some of the the most common conditions that adversely affect our old dogs. It’s a shame to think that their twilight years may be marred by pain and difficulty getting up and about.
Many dog owners would like to try and avoid using potentially toxic pain medication to help their stiff and sore old dogs. Instead, they prefer to look for natural alternatives to manage their discomfort.

10. Task of Shame by Rodney Howard Browne
November 05, 2009
I am convinced this awful show of judgment in Egypt, this battle between a righteous, holy God and the stubborn heart of Pharaoh, has at least 2 major truths to teach us. 2nd, it is an afraid thing to fall into the hands of the living God. You could be in the danger sector as you read these words. You have played fast and loose with your life, ignoring caution after caution. You have forced aside required truths for so long that your heart has become toughened. And the more you harden it, the harder it is to let God's light to at last break through. But there is a bright side to this dark ... (read more)

11. Looking to Work From Home? Then Global Data Entry is the Way to Go.
November 05, 2009
First and foremost. Choosing a good company or programme to trust when working from home is not as easy as it sounds. From what I understand the ratio of scams to legitimate programs is 30:1, not good odds by anyones standards! This is a real shame for the companies who are looking to offer you a real challenge, a real job, with real money making prospects. The good companies are those who will offer you a 1st class program, stick with you throughout your new venture as well as offering you as much help as required along the way. I recently came across a company who go by the nam... (read more)

12. Make The Most Of Halloweens To Come With A Conservatory Or Orangery
November 01, 2009
Halloween has come round once again meaning we are well and truly into Autumn. The clocks have gone back and the days are getting shorter. In autumn nature is at its most spectacular as the leaves change colour from green to deep reds, oranges and yellows. The shame of it is though that as the weather has taken a turn for the worse we often do not get to enjoy natures spectacle as we are cooped up in doors keeping warm.
That is unless you have a conservatory or orangery. Conservatories and orangeries really come into their own at this time of year. They allow you to enjoy your garden and ... (read more)

October 29, 2009
To be healthy and prosperous or diseased and bankrupt, that is the question.
In the Democratic Debates, Senator Mike Gravel turned to Hillary Clinton and said, “Hillary, shame on you, you know that the Congress is owned lock, stock and barrel by the Military Industrial complex.” Since then President Bush threatened the men, women and children of the United States with martial law if they did not hand over all of their hard earned tax dollars for billion dollar bonuses for the Wall Street CEOs who crippled the world economy with their losing derivative gambles. When you hear about snoring do you, like most people associate it with men? Do you think it is a testosterone or male issue? 17. Broadway Play Reviews - 3 Must See Shows For Fall

Using Broadway play reviews are a great way to hunt down that perfect night of entertainment. With the great variety of plays on Broadway at any given time it can become difficult to narrow down the best pick. 18. It Is Very Important To Approach Penis Enlargement With Caution
October 26, 2009
There is absolutely no shame in trying to enlarge your penis. In fact, wanting a larger penis and being unsatisfied with your current "model" is absolutely normal. There are also thousands of men just like you who aren't happy with their penis size and who are looking for legitimate ways of making a difference, preferably a big one. 19. Craftsperson spends time honing his skills
October 26, 2009
Some would-be writers think they can dash off an article without bothering to learn the basic rules of grammar. But just as any craftsperson spends time honing his skills to make the perfect piece of craft, so must a writer work hard to present an article that will be a pleasure to read and not shame him for its sloppy grammar and punctuation. True, some errors are typos, but doesn't that reflect a certain laziness on the author's part? An article should be closely examined for typos before it is sent off or uploaded.
