Socialism refers to various theories of economic organization advocating public or direct worker ownership and administration of the means of production and allocation of resources, and a society characterized by equal access to resources for all individuals with a method of compensation based on the amount of labor expended. [1][2][3]Most socialists share the view that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and derives its wealth through exploitation, creates an unequal society, does not provide equal opportunities for everyone to maximise their potentialities[4] and does not utilise technology and resources to their maximum potential nor in the interests of the public.[5] Socialism is not a concrete philosophy of fixed doctrine and programme; its branches advocate a degree of social interventionism and economic rationalisation (usually in the form of economic planning), but sometimes oppose each other. A dividing feature of the socialist movement is the split between reformists and revolutionaries on how a socialist economy should be established. Some socialists advocate complete nationalisation of the means of production, distribution, and exchange; others advocate state control of capital within the framework of a market economy. Socialists inspired by the Soviet model of economic development have advocated the creation of centrally planned economies directed by a state that owns all the means of production. Others, including Yugoslavian, Hungarian, German and Chinese Communists in the 1970s and 1980s, instituted various forms of market socialism, combining co-operative and state ownership models with the free market exchange and free price system (but not free prices for the means of production).[8] Modern Social democrats propose selective nationalisation of key national industries in mixed economies, while maintaining private ownership of capital and private business enterprise. (In the 19th and early 20th century the term was used to refer to those who wanted to completely replace capitalism with socialism through reform.) Modern social democrats also promote tax-funded welfare programs and regulation of markets; many, particularly in European welfare states, refer to themselves as socialists, despite holding pro-capitalist viewpoints, thus adding ambiguity to the meaning of the term "socialist". Libertarian socialism (including social anarchism and libertarian Marxism) rejects state control and ownership of the economy altogether and advocates direct collective ownership of the means of production via co-operative workers' councils and workplace democracy.

1. America, A Nation Of Immigrants Or A Nation Of Wimps?
November 19, 2009
History shows that America is a nation of immigrants. Unless you or your ancestors are Native American, if you live in America you or your ancestors are immigrants. My grandparents were immigrants. My grandparents came to America from Russia, from a city near the border with Poland, prior to World War I. They came to America to escape German occupation, religious persecution, and death. My grandparents, Harry and Anna, landed at Ellis Island in New York. They spoke no English. They had no education. They had no money. They were among the poor, the tired, the huddled masses, yearning to ... (read more)

4. The Three Rs of Prophetic Warning - Old Time Stuff that still Works Today
November 01, 2009
Due to the emphasis on the R sound (phoneme) in reading, writing and arithmetic early American pioneers and settlers coined the phrase “reading, riting and ritmetic.” It was repeated often in regards to getting a good education. Although spelled wrong the point was always transparent.
In the issuance of prophetic utterance there is also a three Rs, spelled correctly they are redemption, renewal and rebuke. It serves well to consider another phrase often used in America usually as a means of expressing some disdain. The phrase ‘organized religion’ is often used to describe something that ... (read more)

5. GM, California, and Newspapers - Where We Are All Headed!
October 20, 2009
"As GM goes, goes the country," a phrase not even whispered around Wall Street these days but shouted out constantly in the heydays of leveraged buyouts and unrestricted Hedge funds. "California is the cutting edge of the rest of the country." It's been very true that California has been a trend setter, but no one will cop to that now that California is broke. That doesn't mean that it's still not true, however, and that the rest of the country will soon follow suit. "Newspapers will always be around, people love their morning newspaper!" Nope, not anymore - it's AOL or Google news n... (read more)

6. The Dangers of Exclusive Friendships
October 21, 2009
An excellent and gentle man of my acquaintance has said, "When fifty-one per cent of the voters believe in cooeperation as opposed to competition, the Ideal Commonwealth will cease to be a theory and become a fact."
That men should work together for the good of all is very beautiful, and I believe the day will come when these things will be, but the simple process of fifty-one per cent of the voters casting ballots for socialism will not bring it about.
The matter of voting is simply the expression of a sentiment, and after the ballots have been counted there still remains the work... (read more)

7. Germans Pleased with Universal Health Care System
September 28, 2009
With Congress back in session, debate over reforming the American health care system is once again in full swing. Supporters of universal health care want the U.S. system to be more like those in Europe, with the government taking an active role to guarantee coverage for everyone while those opposed warn that this would push the U.S. toward socialism. Germans have the oldest universal health care system in Europe and are generally pleased with the care they receive. Is there a lesson there for America? Everyone needs a doctor It seems no matter where - everyone at some point needs a doc... (read more)

8. If Obama Really Cared What Would He Be Doing?
September 24, 2009
Unemployment Insurance – He would be increasing benefits to 50% of gross pay for two years instead of bailing out companies.
Social Security – Raise the benefits by about 50%.
Wars – He would be pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan. He promised to do so and instead is committing more troops.
Military – He would be downsizing the military. Why does he need 13 aircraft carrier groups?
Patriot Act – He would be canceling this. Instead of dropping certain parts of it like he promised, he is extending some provisions of the Patriot act.
Banking – Why bail out the banks and t... (read more)

9. Swiss Bank UBS Sued by 500 Americans
September 24, 2009
Executive Summary – The Swiss Bank UBS is being sued by at least 500 of their American clients for releasing information to the USA. The clients feel betrayed and are suing. The Swiss have had to add on 5 judges for a two year posting to hear the excess of cases they just got hit with. More cases should be coming in I would think.
As a result of the Swiss economy is getting hit hard. Personal bankruptcies are expected to hit 6,000 this year. Business bankruptcies this year will hit 5,000 for the first time. What I say is: What about the people who trusted them with their life savings that... (read more)

10. Drug Legalization Marches in Latin America
September 21, 2009
Executive Summary – The drug laws are not working. Everyone knows this. Eighty percent of the people in the massive USA prison system are locked up for drugs or drug related reasons. If the other countries legalize drugs, drop the victimless crime of money laundering (almost always tied to drugs so if drugs legal, then the money is not implicated in money laundering as fruits of a crime) then certain one world order governments will have nothing to bother foreign governments about.
The USA and UK being world visionaries (sic) have thus got the OECD to get all these tax information sharing... (read more)

11. 45% of US Doctors Consider Quitting if Health Care Overhauled
September 21, 2009
Executive Summary – The doctors do not want to work for low wages under the new health care reform. Many of them, almost half said they would consider quitting the practice of medicine. We would expect many of them to leave the USA for greener pastures. In other countries doctors do not have to fear malpractice lawsuits and government investigations. The money would be less but the cost of living is lower and the quality of life is higher. This would result in a doctor drain. Also the highly trained health care workers that are not doctors would leave for greener pastures. So then USA opens th... (read more)

12. Panama Banks Refuse New Accounts to Americans
September 21, 2009
Executive Summary – Reports are coming in that some of the Panama Banks are refusing to open any sort of bank account for Americans. This is no surprise. That is how Switzerland started out and then they were turning over account information on thousands of Americans having bank accounts there. We expect to see the banks will soon start telling the Americans with accounts in Panama to sign waivers of bank secrecy and file W-9 forms to the IRS reporting the accounts to the IRS. If the Americans fail to execute this paperwork then the bank account gets closed in 30 days. This is what the Swiss d... (read more)

13. Offshore Lawyer vs. Onshore Lawyer
September 21, 2009
Conflict of Interest Introduction - When setting up an offshore asset protection structure you should be using an offshore lawyer not a lawyer in your home country (onshore attorney). There are a number of reasons for this but one of the biggest reasons is there is a conflict of interest with an onshore law firm in your own country. If you have financial enemies and they attempt to go after your funds only to find out that you have relocated your assets offshore with the assistance of this lawyer or law firm a number of things could happen to your onshore lawyer that would not be good for that... 16. Panama Law Against Short Term Rentals
September 18, 2009
Executive Summary – The Panama Government has pass a new law, Resolution 52 dated August 13, 2009 and published it. This law makes it a crime to rent out your apartment for less than one year. One would think this is unconstitutional, but hey this is Panama.
Why Such a Law – This law was passed to help the hotel industry suffering from occupancy rates of about 35% (estimated only), but in any event low. There were a lot of speculative condo sales in Panama in last few years. Some of these condos were even set up as pseudo hotels for rental having hotel type services in them. They were not... 17. Genetically Modified Foods
September 18, 2009
Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are making their way into the forefront of our meals. So, why should you care? You may recall the Monsanto commercial a few years ago that told the viewer about a new variety of rice, Golden Rice to be exact; Monsanto scientists had been successful in ‘enriching’ this rice with beta-carotene. The commercial said the golden rice could save the children of developing countries from blindness and death. Syngenta also owns a patent on Golden Rice , their press release claimed one month of a delay in marketing Golden Rice would cause 50,000 children to go blind... (read more)

18. Kidnapping, Ransom, and Extortion Insurance
September 18, 2009
Overview: Kidnapping, ransom, and extortion are all very real crimes and the number of incidents is growing each year. Companies, company employees, individuals and their families, and tourists are at risk. This risk is prevalent in the country in which the individual (or employee /family/company) is domiciled and in the countries in which they travel.
Only a fraction of all kidnappings that are threatened, attempted, or unsuccessful are ever reported, though these are common occurrences. Threats against children and family are often used and carried out, effectively extorting the victim.... (read more)

Introduction - Health care has become a political and economic topic of great importance today. Governments are taking over health care and controlling who gets services and lives and who gets denied and thus stays sick or even dies.

21. Second Passports--How, Where, and Why
September 18, 2009
Introduction – Our Law Firm gets numerous inquiries from clients around the world for second passports and second citizenships. Generally these programs require one to have a substantial sum of money that can be invested. Not everyone has this much money to invest, even though they can decline to renew the program after five years and just take their money back making the program practically free.
The concerns with this program are what if the program is not available in five years? What if the program requires more money at the end of five years to renew? Will I need to present another p... (read more)

24. A Mutualist Model
September 15, 2009
Competition. Capitalism. Socialism. Nothing but conflict. Out With The Old. In With The New. I don’t like any of the above concepts. Instead, I like ‘mutualism’. And I’m not the only one. The whole concept of the Internet is built along a ‘mutualistic’ model. So there’s a big bunch of people out there who love ‘mutualism’, they just don’t know it yet! In fact, I also never knew that the word ‘mutualism’ exists. It was certainly not a word taught to me at Primary School. Or at High School. Or even at University.
